Project 10 Pan: With A Twist!

Hey, y'all! Yes, a post that isn't on a Tuesday or Saturday! And that's because this doesn't fit into my normal schedule. This is probably going to become my 4th Tuesday of the month post until I finish Project 10 Pan.

*Click HERE to see Update #1 (mid-February)*

Now, you may be wondering what Project 10 Pan is, because although I've seen several youtubers and bloggers do this, I haven't seen any real major beauty gurus do this challenge yet. Basically, Project 10 pan is where you choose 10 beauty products (or more or less, if you want) that you want to use up- maybe you have multiples, it's gotten out of rotation, or you just don't want your money to go to waste. Once you've chosen your products, you aren't allowed to buy any new makeup products until you hit pan or use up all 10 of the products.

People have several reasons to go on Project 10 Pan. Mine is just so I stop spending so much money on makeup. I'm an impulse shopper, so if I see something that looks really intriguing, I'm going to buy it with almost no hesitation. Or, I'll do my research on an expensive product, and if I notice that it's really good and I want it, I just can't help myself. So, I have all these products lying around that I've bought that I don't want to go to waste, even if I only spent a few dollars on them. Plus, I'm not buying new products, so I'm saving myself tons of money.

Here comes the twist. I also have another 7 products that are going to be a part of this challenge. However, the goal with these products is NOT to use them up, but to use them enough that I can actually tell I used them. Like the products on Project 10 Pan, these are products that for one reason or another, I don't feel like I'm getting good use out of them. However, I also don't want to completely use up all of these. Some of them are almost completely full and would just take too long to go through. Others are ones that would be a bit difficult to repurchase, so I don't want to bother. Regardless, I just want to see myself getting my money's worth from these products by making progress on them. Plus, it lets me change up the looks I'm doing while still working toward the challenge I set myself, because I know that if one day I didn't want to use the same blush, I'll feel really guilty for not grabbing for the one I'm supposed to be using up.

So, now that I've gotten the boring stuff out of the way, let's jump into my Project 10 Pan items!

Project 10 Pan

#1) e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator

When I first bought this, I didn't really like it, but after using it a couple times, I can see how it's useful and I don't want to waste it if it's not a bad product. Also, it's not huge, so I'm hoping it's gone by my update next month.
Amount of product left: About half.
Opinion about the product: I liked it at first, but then it got down to the gritty bits and I just didn't like it.

#2) L'Oreal True Match Super Blendable Makeup

I used this for a while, but then discovered Revlon Colorstay and haven't looked back... until now. It's really not a bad foundation, and I have about half a bottle left, so I don't want to waste it. It only took about a month to go through the first half, so I'm guessing it shouldn't take too long to finish it.
Amount of product left: About half.
Opinion about the product: I love how it looks when I first put it on, but then it feels like it either oxidizes too much or doesn't stay on all day.

#3) L'Oreal True Match Super Blendable Powder

I also have the powder to match with the foundation. It's not a bad powder, and actually can be an almost full coverage foundation on days when I want a more natural look. I have tons of other powders, and this one has been forgotten, so I'm going to resurrect it... just to kill it again. Oh well. Although there's no pan on it yet, I can see the shape of the rings below the powder, so it should be fairly easy to finish this off.
Amount of product left: Not totally sure. I can see the rings below the powder, but they haven't been uncovered yet.
Opinion about the product: I'm not totally sure. I like that it's buildable to a pretty full-coverage look, but I'm not sure how much I like how it looks when it gets to full coverage.

#4) e.l.f. Translucent Mattifying Powder

As I said before, I have a lot of powders. Including translucent powders. So this one is going on the list so I can have one less. Because I have way too many setting powders, and I find myself reaching for my Rimmel Stay Matte almost every day.
Amount of product left: Almost all of it.
Opinion about the product: I don't dislike it, but I have other translucent powders I prefer.

#5) e.l.f. Wet Gloss Lash & Brow Clear Mascara

You're probably wondering why there are so many elf products on this list, since each one is only $1-3. Simply put, I've bought SO MANY elf products recently, and I need to stop. Also, I have 2 of these, and have used up both 'brow' sides, so I need to finish up the lash side so I can toss at least one.
Amount of product left: Almost all of the lash side, but that also doesn't take long to go through.
Opinion about the product: I really like it! I just have two and need to get through one.

#6) e.l.f. Eye Shadow Refills- Pink Ice, Peach Fizz, Driftwood, and Moondust

I have so many eye shadows, and so many of them are nowhere near dented. These at least have a significant dent in them, so I may be able to really get into them. Plus, they're all pretty neutral, so it shouldn't be too hard to use them.
Amount of product left: Maybe 3/4 of each one.
Opinion about the product: I like Peach Fizz and Driftwood the most, but these are all ok shadows. I just have a ton of neutrals I prefer to these.

#7) e.l.f. Cover Everything Concealer

I used this quite a while ago and didn't like it too much, so it got tossed in the back, but I heard some people say some good things about it and that it might be easy to use up, so I figured I'd give it a try. It's a little tough to get out, so I'll work on that a bit, but it should go well.
Amount of product left: A lot of it.
Opinion about the product: Not a huge fan of how I have to apply it and it doesn't really match my skin tone too well, but since it's covered by foundation, I can't complain about that too much.

#8) e.l.f. Eyelid Primer

Honestly, this was already almost gone, so I threw it in to at least feel a little successful about something.
Amount of product left: Maybe a 1/4 of it.
Opinion about the product: I like it, but sometimes it's a bit too light. Which is a shocker since nothing is ever too light on me.

#9) e.l.f. Contouring Blush & Bronzer

I'm only focusing on the blush side, because I'm really not much of a bronzer user. I got this because so many youtubers were raving about this, but I didn't even stop to think about the fact that I simply don't wear bronzer. So now I always forget to reach for this as a blush, so now's my chance to.
Amount of product left: Almost all of it.
Opinion about the product: I don't dislike it, I just have several blushes I like better.

#10) L'Oreal Magic Anti-Redness Correcting Primer

I used to use this all the time as my primer, but I got two after that and kinda tossed this one to the side, even though I only used about half of it. So, I need to use this up before moving on to each of the new primers. And this one is a corrective green, so it fixes my red face.
Amount of product left: I can't really tell, but somewhere between 1/2 or 1/4
Opinion about the product: I don't mind it, but I want to finish it up before moving on.

Bonus Products

#1) Wet & Wild I'm Getting Sunburned Eye Shadow Trio

I actually just re-discovered this at the bottom of a drawer that I usually don't put makeup in, and was surprised to see it. I bought it before I realized that wet & wild's eyeshadows were actually really good and I've used it only a few times but the colors are really nice. I know I can't use up the whole thing, but I need to make a couple dents.
Amount of product left: Almost all of it.
Opinion about the product: I like it. Really pigmented, and it has nice colors.

#2) e.l.f. High Definition Powder

I've had this for quite a while, and so far, I've only used it for a review. I thought it was a bit chalky and didn't really like it. However, upon using it the other day, I had a bit better of an impression with it than my first impression. So, I'm going to use it a bit and see how that goes. And there's a ton of it, so there's absolutely no way all of it is getting used.
Amount of product left: Almost all of it.
Opinion about the product: It's so so messy. I also feels like it sits on the skin rather than blending in, but it does feel really soft to the touch.

#3) e.l.f. Tone Correcting Powder (Cool)

I have used almost none of this, and there's a ton of product in here, so I feel like I need to make some sort of dent in this thing.
Amount of product left: Almost all of it.
Opinion about the product: I'm not really sure. I'm still really trying to figure out how to use it. One color at a time? All together?

#4) e.l.f. Clarifying Pressed Powder

I wasn't kidding when I said I had too many elf products. Or when I said I have too many powders. Seriously, it's a bit much. I didn't give this that much of a chance, so I'm bringing it out of makeup purgatory and hopefully it has the medium coverage that some beauty gurus have claimed.
Amount of product left: Almost all of it.
Opinion about the product: It looks a bit more yellowy than my skin, but I'm hoping it works out.

#5) e.l.f. Jumbo Lip Gloss Stick- In The Nude

It may not be a perfect nude color, but it's a pretty good one, and I've hardly made a dent in it. Gotta use it more!
Amount of product left: About 90%
Opinion about the product: It's nice. It's nude. Is it sad that's all I can come up with?

#6) e.l.f. Studio Blush- Tickled Pink

As you can see, the dent I've made in this product is nonexistent. I think I used it once or twice when I did my original haul and review of e.l.f. products, but I haven't used this since. I'm not really sure why- it's not that I didn't like it. It's not a bad blush. I think I just have other colors i slightly prefer to this one.
Amount of product left: All of it.
Opinion about the product: It has a nice texture, but I don't know how I feel about the color/ color payoff yet.

#7) Mary Kay Mineral Eye Color- Silky Caramel

I think this may be the only Mary Kay eye shadow that I have that I haven't even made a dent in, which surprises me, because it's a great neutral. So, I'll work on getting some product out of there and see how that goes.
Amount of product left: About 90%

Opinion about the product: It's a nice color, and a good texture. I like it.

So, there are all the products that are going to be a part of my Project 10 Pan! I know a lot of people tailor the rules a bit, allowing themselves to buy certain things, and I think I'm going to do a bit of that. I'm going to allow myself to buy brushes, since a couple of my brushes just broke and I already know I need to go replace them. Mascara is going to be considered a completely separate entity because I don't know how long this is going to be continuing. I did, however, just purchase a new mascara before starting this, so I should be OK for quite a while.

I'm still trying to work on the guidelines for this... I'm going to allow myself $20 (per month) for things that are special editions or something I just may not get a chance to buy elsewhere, but ONLY under those circumstances. Each time I finish/hit pan on a product, I'll allow myself to spend $5 on makeup, which can either be spent or saved to combine with the next $5 I get.

I'll be posting updates regularly, possibly on those 2nd/4th Tuesdays where I don't have a set-in-stone schedule. Not quite sure if I'll do 1 or 2 per month. I'm leaning toward 1. I'll keep you posted. Anyway, thanks for reading!
