Book of the Month: You Are Not So Smart by David McRaney

Hey, y'all! One of my goals for 2014 is to read at least one non-school related book per month. I have a separate reading goal for over the summer, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there! Anyway, I realized that since I've been in college, constantly surrounded by friends, and bombarded by homework, I haven't had time to read. Or, at least, I haven't taken the time to read. I mean, I haven't even reread Harry Potter in the last couple years, which is a crime in itself.

I figured that since I'm attempting this goal, I should blog about it (because whenever I ask myself if I should blog about something, my mental response is "why not?!"). As of now, I haven't chosen a book for February yet, but I have a feeling that by the end of this, I'll have chosen one. It'll probably be pictured at the end of this post. I do, however, already have a March book chosen, because there's a rather large book I've been wanting to read, and I'll have a bit more time to read while travelling in March.

Alright, on to the book! My January choice was You Are Not So Smart by David McRaney. Ever since I decided to study Psychology (along with my Music major), I've had a growing interest in nonfiction Psych books. I know, I know, when you hear the word nonfiction, it conjures thoughts of stuffy, boring books with overly intellectual prose that will put you to sleep. That's definitely not the case with this book.

You Are Not So Smart takes almost anything you believe about life and turns it on its head. McRaney takes you through 48 ways you're deluding yourself into believing something that just isn't true. If you're like me, you see this as a bit of a challenge. "Of course I'm not deluding myself! I've actually taken the time to think about my decisions and what influenced them." Cue a chapter about introspection and how you make things up to explain your decisions and opinions.

One thing that I really liked about this book is that McRaney never talks down to you. He's a journalist, not a psychologist, so he doesn't speak to you with technical terms that you don't understand. He explains concepts as if he's a friend, not someone with a Psychology doctorate trying to dumb things down for you to understand. He's already explaining why you're not so smart, so no one would want to continue reading if they felt like the author was talking down to them. There's also a very lighthearted and clever tone to his writing, which keeps the reader engaged. You can tell upon reading the book that he's a funny and witty person. Another thing that he does which I really like is that he speaks directly to the reader several times, presenting a scenario and asking the reader to react to it. Usually he uses this to show you why you're just as deluded as everyone else.

Another factor to this book that I really enjoy is that it's divided into 48 chapters, each focusing on one of the ways people delude themselves. McRaney covers topics as well known as brand loyalty (c'mon, you didn't think you were loyal to just one brand because all their products are perfect, did you?), ones that are fairly commonplace in Psychology, like the Confirmation Bias, to completely random ones like "The Public Goods Game." 48 chapters may seem like a lot, but each chapter is short, and makes it easy to read it in small snippets of time, which is basically all I really have for reading.

Overall, I really enjoyed You Are Not So Smart. I feel like it's a book that is marketable to a much wider audience than most Psych books. Everyone at one point or another has wondered why they or someone else did something, and I feel like this book could explain almost any of those situations. There is a sequel out called You Are Now Less Dumb, and I might pick it up for an upcoming month.

As I predicted at the top, I have decided on a book, and already went out and bought it.

I'm obviously not going to talk about it in detail since I haven't read it and I'm going to do it next month once it's done, but it seems creepy and oddball, which is totally my thing. It's been sitting on my desk since Sunday and I really want to get started on it, but I'm not allowed to start until February. I'll probably post these "book of the month" posts either the last or second-to-last day of the month, depending upon where that falls.

Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed my little mini-review of You Are Not So Smart. Have you read it? What did you think of it? Let me know in the comments! Don't forget to check back Saturday for chapter 2 of The Secret Lightning Scar! If you enjoy my posts, make sure to subscribe/follow, as it lets me know that you're enjoying what I'm doing. Thanks, y'all!

Products I Regret Buying (Part 1)

Hey, y'all! Today, I'm going to be talking about the products I regret buying. Lately, I've been watching a lot of videos of youtubers talking about products they regret buying, and since I did my "10 Products I Would Repurchase" post last month, I decided to go ahead and talk about the products I regret buying.

This is going to be the first of 2 posts. The second post is going to be the products I regret buying because I don't like it or think that it's not a great product. This post is going to be products that I regret buying for other reasons (wrong shade, etc.).

Disclaimer: Just as everyone says, this is just my opinion. Some of these, I regret purely because of shade or personal preference. I get really bothered when people use the words "horrible", "terrible" or "hate" to explain why they don't like something. Something that doesn't work for me may work for someone else. There are definitely products on each list that I wouldn't recommend to anyone ever, because I just don't believe the quality is there. BUT, I'll try to explain myself as thoroughly as possible and if you find me using the aforementioned words, please point it out to me, because I don't want to come off as bashing products.

Rimmel BB Cream

This was one of the BB creams I tried this summer, and as you can see, it was just too dark for me... and I have it in light! I swear, though I am pale, I'm not THAT pale! There are plenty of people lighter than me! Anyway, it's not a bad product, it's just too dark for me! Make more colors!

Revlon PhotoReady BB Cream

Very simply, this is just not a color match at all. It's lighter than most light BB creams, but as you can see above, it's still a bit dark and orangey on my skin.

L'Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream

My problem with this is partially because of the product, but also the color, so I'm including it on this one. I tried it during the period where I was going BB cream crazy. One reason I gave it a go was because I have really fair skin, and this had one or two more shade options, as well as starting out white and then "adjusting" to your skin tone. They can claim that this adjusts to your skin tone all they want, but I just don't believe it. I have the fair, and this comes out to be both darker and more yellow than my skin, so it just doesn't work for me because of that. So like I said, the problem is with the color, but also the fact that it doesn't actually adjust to my color even though it claims to.

Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation
TruBlend is on the left, Outlast on the R.

This is a good foundation, but I have a huge problem with the color. I have Covergirl's TruBlend, which has the same shade range as the outlast stay fabulous. However, ivory in trublend and ivory in outlast stay fabulous are totally different colors, and the outlast is significantly darker. Ivory in trublend works really well for my skintone, so obviously the outlast doesn't. If you look at the swatch above, you'll notice two swatches on my hand. The top is TruBlend, the bottom is Outlast. It didn't pick up quite as well on camera, but they're significantly different colors, both in a little dollop and when blended out. They also look very different in the container, which the camera also didn't pick up as well.

Mary Kay Concealer

When I bought this online, I THOUGHT I knew what color to get, because I always need the lightest one. Shouldn't be hard to figure out which one that is, right? WRONG. When I got it, it was so insanely yellow that it was completely unwearable. They've since changed the labels and there is one labelled "yellow," which I can only assume is the one that I have. It's just so incredibly yellow. That swatch above is all the way blended in. Just for fun, here's what it looked like while I was blending it.
This was literally bright yellow in person.

e.l.f. Jumbo Eye Shadow Stick- Midnight Rendezvous

I have 4 jumbo eye shadow sticks, and I do like them, but I'm not quite sure what I was thinking when purchasing this black. I don't wear black eye shadow... ever. This must have been some sort of impulse buy.

Almay Eye Shadow Stick Duo

I have the one for green eyes, even though I have brown eyes because honestly, anyone could wear any color they want. The only reason I regret buying this is because I just haven't used it. The light blue and purple are both really pretty, but I've just never used it. Not sure why, but I just haven't.

e.l.f. Matte Lip Color- Nearly Nude, Rich Red

My issue with these is partially color and partially formulation. I bought Nearly Nude because I like nude lips, but the texture was like a concealer. It was so thick and dry and cakey. Then, I bought Rich Red to try and figure out if the problem was with that one color or with all of them. The red was much more smooth and felt like a lip product actually should. However, I didn't think beforehand about the fact that I NEVER wear red lips. I like nude/natural/ pinky lips, so I have no idea what I was thinking. So, I definitely wouldn't recommend the nude due to the formulation, but the red is nice... just not for me.

e.l.f. Lip Stain

I have this in natural. It's a perfectly fine product, I just don't like the color. I think that the color doesn't match the name it was given. It's far too reddish to be labelled natural.

So, there you go, a handful of products I regret buying! I bought a lot of these without looking to see reviews or anything, which I've decided is never a good thing. Often, I don't buy any makeup product unless a beauty guru I trust has said it's good. Or I see them recommend things and it convinces me to buy it. Anyway, the second list of products I regret buying will probably be my Feb. 11 post. That one will be a bit more interesting for me because the products on that list are products that I have some pretty major issues with.

Hope you enjoyed reading! What products do you have that you regret buying? Let me know in the comments! If you like my posts, I would really appreciate if you'd follow/subscribe, as it lets me know you're enjoying what I'm doing. See y'all Saturday for the next chapter of The Secret Lightning Scar!

Update on My Favorite Youtubers!

Back in August, I wrote a post about my favorite Youtube channels, and it's been one of the most popular posts on my blog by far. Since then, I've discovered even more youtubers who have become a part of my everyday routine, so I decided to give you an updated list. Click here if you'd like to see the original list.

I'm first going to tell you about the new youtubers, and then do the updated list, just so I don't barrage you with the exact same pictures as the last list. Also, I'm going to be talking about channels specifically, not just people. For example, I had Smosh on my last list, but I've recently begun watching one of their offshoot channels more, which is one of the channels on this list. So both the additions and the new list will be based off channels, not the actual people on them. Anyway, enough intro. Here we go.

Superfruit is made up of 2/5 of the a capella group Pentatonix. (I did a 30 day challenge about Pentatonix, and if you wanna see it/ learn more info about these guys, click HERE). Mitch Grassi (the brunette) and Scott Hoying (the blonde) have been best friends since they were 10 and within the past year they have moved in together, started a youtube channel, and adopted a sphynx cat (named Wyatt Blue Grassi-Hoying). These two are absolutely hilarious and I have seen every single one of their videos more times than I can count and just absolutely love them.

Emily is the only beauty guru that I watch on a regular basis, but I totally love her reviews. She's so nice and does really great reviews. Although only a fraction of her videos are ones I'm really interested in, she has over 900 videos, so there are a ton for me to still sift through and discover. I watch her all the time!

While I certainly don't watch Dmiti's videos for sheer entertainment, they definitely help me fall asleep and I listen to ASMR every single night as I fall asleep. 90% of the time, I choose one of Dmitri's videos, because he's honestly the best ASMRtist I've seen. There are some others I like, but he's the only one I come back to time and time again.

Smosh Games

I've been subscribed to Smosh Games for a very long time, but it was mostly just as a gesture of support toward Smosh. Since the beginning of my fall semester, I've begun watching their videos on a regular basis and actually really love it. My favorite series are Game Bang (where they all play a game and compete against each other), Why We're Single, and Top 5 Friday. And I love Jovenshire and Sohinki. They're great.

WatchMojo does top 10 entertainment lists, such as "top 10 rock bands of all time" or "top ten romantic comedies" and so I really enjoy several of their lists. Some of them don't interest me as much, but they post at least one video a day, so I usually really enjoy them.

This is the vlog channel of Matthew Lush (the one with the blue hair) and his boyfriend, Nick Laws (with the brown hair). Matthew has been a youtuber for a while on his channel GayGod, and Nick has recently created his own channel, NickaLaws. They do some cool challenges and vlog their life and their relationship, and I've seen most of their videos.

I know I said that EmilyNoel83 was the only beauty guru I watch, but I take that back. I watch Grav3yard girl all the time, and she's super cool and unique. Seriously, she shows you that you should be 100% true to yourself. She's such a unique person!

OK, so now onto the list. I've changed it to 25 rather than 23 because I like going by 5s, I just couldn't think of more last time I did this. OK, so here you go!

#25: Jenna Marbles: I watch her videos weekly, but they're not as good as the others on this list.
#24: Pleated-Jeans: His videos lately have been short and not very good. Not sure what's going on with that.
#23: Quirkology: They never upload anymore... It's sad. But I love the videos that are on there and the ones they upload.
#22: MassageASMR: Like I said, I fall asleep to him every night.
#21: Grav3yardGirl: She's so fun to watch!
#20: Connor Franta: I like his videos, but some other people have pushed him back.
#19: Tyler Oakley: Once again, other youtubers have pushed him back a bit.
#18: AmazingPhil: Is it just me, or has he not posted things in a while? The last I remember is Phil Is Not On Fire...
#17: Lush: I watch almost every video they post!
#16: EmilyNoel83: Like I said, she's my favorite guru.
#15: Sawyer Hartman: I especially love his collabs.
#14: Smosh: They hold a special place in my heard, and have for quite a while.
#13: Their videos are really entertaining.
#12: MattG124: He's just perfect. His hair, his personality, just everything!
#11: Nick Foti (SoundlyAwake, StillSoundlyAwake): I love Nick and Kevin and Warden so much!
#10: Shane Dawson: His collabs are great, but I watch him almost every day.
#9: The Fine Bros: I haven't missed any of their videos in quite a while. They're all great.
#8: Marcus Butler: He's hilarious, and I watch his videos regularly.
#7: Alfie Deyes (PointlessBlog): My favorite British youtuber. He's really cool, and I make sure to never miss a video.
#6: Smosh Games: I love to binge watch their videos. They're great!
#5: JacksFilms: Your Grammar Sucks is so perfect, and he's super cool.
#4: Joey Graceffa: His new series, Storytellers, is really great, and I love his vlogs.
#3: Rhett And Link: I watch Good Mythical Morning every single day, and I love them!
#2: Superfruit: Mitch and Scott are just so perfect and I absolutely love them.
#1: Dan Howell (Danisnotonfire): I love him. He's me in male form, basically. He's just so cool.

So, there's my list. If you saw my first list, you've probably realized that I have left off some people who were on my original list. These people are listed below, along with the number they originally placed at, and the reason they didn't make the list this time.

#22: ThatcherJoe: I never really watched him very regularly, but rather when he did collabs with my favorite youtubers.
#21: Caspar Lee: I really liked him at first, but I'm just not a fan of his humor.
#17: JacksGap: I just don't even watch them anymore.
#16: Michael Buckley: I loved watching him on MyIsh's weekly IshList, but they stopped doing that months ago, and I haven't watched any of his stuff since then.
#11: Sam Pepper: I really liked his vlogs, but lately he's just been doing the pranks and while I don't dislike those, prank videos typically just aren't my thing.

There you go, my update on my favorite youtubers! What did you think of the list? Of the new youtubers? Of the changes? Let me know in the comments! See you tomorrow, y'all!

30 Day 5 Things Challenge

Hey, y'all! You have no idea how long this challenge took me, because it was so hard to choose things! You'll notice that some of the lists go 1-5 and others go 5-1. The difference I made there is that the 1-5 lists aren't really in a particular order, while the 5-1 lists are in order of my favorites. Also, I did a large chunk of this on Monday, so anything relating to "today" was for Monday. Just FYI.

Day 1: Five things you plan to do today.
  1. Finish my psych stats homework.
  2. Start on my paper that's due Wednesday.
  3. Write the Tuesday CDs On My Shelf post
  4. Do music theory homework
  5. Continue reading my January book.

Day 2: Five favourite movies.

5. This is a new one within the last year. I think it's a super cool concept that was executed so incredibly well.

4. This movie combines so many of the things that I love in movies. Johnny Depp, gore, England, musicals, horror genre, it's just so perfect, and the music is so great.

3. This movie makes me cry like a baby every time I watch it, and I've seen it a lot.

2. A long-standing favorite. I first saw it 10 years ago in my 4th grade class and ever since, it's been one of my all time favorites.

1. I first saw this one in 9th grade, and at first I didn't think it was THAT great, but it quickly found its way in this spot, where it's been for quite a long time. Seriously, I've seen this so many times that I can quote it forwards and backwards and upside down.

Day 3: The last five songs that you’ve listened to.
  1. Molly Makeout (feat Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low)- The Friday Night Boys
  2. Show You How To Love- Pentatonix
  3. Stutter- Marianas Trench
  4. Bulls In The Bronx- Pierce The Veil
  5. Imagine- John Lennon

Day 4: Five favourite books.

5. This Is Your Brain On Music is just so interesting to me, especially since Daniel Levitin has a lot of the same ideas about music/psychology as I do, and is interested in the same things.

4. This is that book that I first read in 4th grade and still love. I was too young to understand a lot of the stuff then, but once I did, it became my favorite book, and it's always been up there, even if it's just for nostalgia's sake.

3. I cry every time I read this. Seriously. It's such a powerful book and so emotional. You think it's just some teen novel, but it really isn't. It's so incredibly skillfully crafted and wonderful.

2. I've actually read this twice back to back in one day. Why? Not exactly sure other than that it's just an amazing book. Seriously, I love it.

1. Couldn't pick just one. These have been my favorites for forever and will continue to feel like home for the rest of my life. When I'm an old lady and books and kindles are a thing of the past and we've moved on to some other platform for reading... if there even still is one (how terrible does that sound?!) I'll be that old lady with the Harry Potter books falling apart on my shelves.

Day 5: The last five places you’ve been.
  1. Memphis, TN
  2. Minneapolis, MN
  3. Aberdeen, SD
  4. Olathe, KS
  5. Tulsa, OK

Day 6: Five favourite fashion accessories.

5. Tapers/Plugs

4.Brighton charm bracelet #1

3. Brighton charm bracelet #2

2. Circular barbell earrings

1. Alto Clef ring

Day 7: Five favourite colours in order.

5. Who doesn't love a good charcoal? Or maybe it's just me because I love dark colors?

4. You may think black doesn't count, but it does. The end.

3. For the longest time, I didn't like purple. Now I really love it. Though I usually like a bit of a darker shade.

2. Teal. Yes. Love.

1.Red has been my favorite color since I was 5. Others come and go, but they'll never replace red. Ever.

Day 8: Five favourite TV shows.
I love a lot of shows, so rather than say the 5 I really love currently, I'll list the ones that have been constant for quite a while. And yes, they're in order.

5. I actually kind of hate how much I love this show. I've seen nearly every episode, and I've seen many of them multiple times. I'm a sucker for a reality competition.

4. I almost put this a bit higher, but then I realized that I haven't seen anything since Michael left... so obviously I don't love it as much as I used to. But it's such a great show. I love it.

3. This has been one of my favorites since I first saw it in its 3rd season, and I've since seen almost every episode except for the most recent season because I don't get Bravo at school!

2. This show is so smart and witty and creative and I just love it and Joel McHale is one of my favorite actors and I love him.

1. I've seen every episode multiple times. I have a ranking of every designer to ever be on the show. It's not an obsession or anything...

Day 9: Five celebrities you love.
I'm going to take this as actual celebrities that the majority of people know about rather than my mostly unknown loves.

5. I'm not sure I can accurately express my immense love for Jared Leto. I feel like he's the one person who has been most successful at both music and acting. Seriously, no one else has done both so exquisitely.

4. Joel McHale is just brilliant. Acting, as himself, he's just great. I love him.

3. Emma Stone just gets all the best characters. They're all so intelligent and witty and sarcastic and unique and she seems like such a genuine person.

2. Emma Watson is so intelligent and so classy, and I admire her immensely for how successfully she's transitioned from child star to adult actress.

1. Johnny Depp... He's just so cool. He's starred in SO many of my favorite movies, and he has the very unique ability to look completely different.

Day 10: Five hobbies.
  1. This, because honestly blogging is a hobby even though I'd love for it to be a job.
  2. Reading. I really like reading when it's not for school, but I hardly get time for that.
  3. Youtube. I watch way too much youtube. It's probably more of an obsession than hobby.
  4. Music. And I mean the stuff outside of my studies. Because that's hardly a hobby.
  5. I don't even know. I'm in college. I barely have time for food, let alone hobbies.
Day 11: Five favourite bands/musicians/artists.

5. These guys aren't super famous, but they're so great. They haven't put out anything new in quite a while, and I'm getting very worried that they're dunzo.

4. These guys are so underrated. I feel like the audience who actively listens to the pop radio stations would enjoy them, but I'm glad they're not huge.

3. Oh boy. My roommate got me hooked on them, and I can blast their music all day long and not get bored. All five of them are so talented and can do things with their voices that I definitely, definitely can't even touch.

2. ATL is tied with McFly for my favorite band, but I gave McFly the spot because they've been my favorite band for longer. I love the guys, I love the music, and I can't say much else. I love them, I love them, I love them.

1. These boys hold a special place in my heart. They've been my favorite band for a very long time. They've got such a great sound, and they're all genuinely great people. And Tom Fletcher is a genius.

Day 12: Five favourite outdoor sports/board games.
Well, I'm not much of a sports person, so I'll just go with board games for this one.

5. This is kinda a filler. I like dominoes and cards more than actual board games.

4. I played this with my uncle all the time when I was younger. It's super cool.

3. My favorite part was always when I got a really cool job with a good salary. I also really liked having twins. I no longer enjoy having twins.

2. I've never lost at this game. Bring it.

1. Mysteries have always been my thing, and so has this game. And all the Clue chapter books that I devoured as a child.

Day 13: Five phobias.

  1. Birds. They're absolutely my biggest fear. Especially ostriches and emus. They freak me out.
  2. Clowns, or just people in mascot suits in general. For clowns, I think someone would have to be super crazy/creepy to put on makeup and chill with kids. As far as the mascot thing goes, you just never know who's in there and I hate being bothered and they always seem to notice that and bother me. This is why I don't go to sporting events.
  3. Spiders. This used to be my biggest fear, but the other two have kinda topped it.
  4. Failure. Self explanatory, in my opinions.
  5. Large crowds/ confined spaces. I'm not sure whether I'd call this a phobia or just a hatred, but I can't stand being in small spaces, especially when it's people crowding around me. I just don't like being around too many people.
Day 14: Five people you can’t stand.
Obviously, I'm not going to name specific people, but I'll describe some people I can't stand.

  1. I've only spent time with this person once, and for a good reason. The entire time this person was hanging around me and my friend, this person talked only about him/herself and literally never shut up and pushed him/herself upon us. Vain+Obnoxious= GREAT combo.
  2. This next person, I dislike for a similar reason. He/She likes to make him/herself seem incredibly intelligent and goes to great measures to prove his/her intelligence. Plus, he/she is incredibly rude and inconsiderate of others.
  3. A person I had a class with last semester who made some of the most ignorant comments I've ever heard. And his/her personality is very similar to those of #1 & #2.
  4. This is a person I've had only one class with, but I see all over campus. This person seems to purposely try to come off as unintelligent due to the way he/she speaks, and has a very ditzy personality that seems very fake.
  5. I work fairly closely with this person in some aspects of my life, and my problem with him/her is his/her attitude. This person doesn't show up to required things just because he/she doesn't feel like doing it, complains about everything that we do, and clearly doesn't care about what we're doing and makes it obvious he/she doesn't want to be there. I tried so hard to like this person, but I honestly just can't.
Day 15: Five things you can see around you right now.

  1. My iPod
  2. My Vera Bradley keys/card holder
  3. Half a can of Mountain Dew Code Red
  4. My Walgreens EOS lip balm knockoff in sugar cookie
  5. My earbuds
Day 16: Five favourite foods.

  1. Chicken tenders... with honey mustard
  2. Pepperoni Pizza
  3. Mashed potatoes
  4. Auntie Anne's soft pretzels
  5. Anything spicy/Mexican
Day 17: Five pet peeves.

  1. Bad Grammar. I'm sorry, but we learned the difference between "there," "their," and "they're" in 2nd grade, so I will NOT hesitate to correct someone when they're sounding as intelligent as a seven year old.
  2. People who don't pay attention to where they're going. Seriously, 90% of my problems with humanity would be solved if people would just pay attention to where their feet are going... or not going in some cases.
  3. Vanity. Seriously, if all you do is talk about yourself, I can't hang out with you. We all love ourselves a bit too much, but there are more important issues than the fact that you're going to die if Starbucks ever goes out of business.
  4. People pretending to be something they're not/ conformity. I think that one of the worst things that someone can do is to try to be like everyone else to fit in. I tried my hand at that in middle school and realized that there are more important things in life than wearing Hollister all the time. Be your own person.
  5. People who are too happy/bubbly. Even if someone isn't being fake, it comes off to me as being fake, as well as annoying. I'm not saying happiness is a bad thing, because it's obviously not, but people who are overly happy drive me up a wall.
Day 18: Five favourite fictional characters.
I hope you realize that my entire life is made up of obsessions with fictional characters, so this is nearly impossible. Because of that, I'm just gonna go with Harry Potter fictional characters because that's the only way anyone is gonna get chosen.

5. I feel like there's so much more to explore with him... like his life right after the 7th book ended... how he really felt about the events, etc.

4. I feel like I have a bit of Luna's spirit in me... combined with all the other characters on this list.

3. Ron's so great and hilarious. I absolutely love him.

2. Hermione is just so awesome. She's my favorite member of the golden trio BY FAR.

1. Yes, they're two different people, but they're basically just a package deal.

Day 19: Five cartoon shows you used to watch as a kid.

5. The only reason this isn't higher is because even though it's animated, I don't really see it as a cartoon... but I still watch this all the time today. Not a fan of the new stuff, but I absolutely love this show.

4. I mean, was it actually possible for a 90s kid to go through childhood and NOT watch this...?

3. Confession time- I still watch this on Netflix.

2. I watched this ALL. THE. TIME.

1. I've always been a Scooby Doo fan, and that will never change. It's classic.

Day 20: Five things you couldn’t care less about that everyone else loves.
OK, I'm going to interpret this as "5 things everyone else loves that I don't like," because that's easier for me. I have an opinion on almost everything.

  1. Doritos. Everyone totally loves Doritos, and I can't stand them AT ALL.
  2. Iced Tea. This is mostly a southern thing, but everyone I know absolutely loves tea, and it legitimately grosses me out. The smell makes me gag, and the taste makes me gag even more.
  3. Parties. As a college student, everyone around me LOVES going to parties, and I can't stand them. It's not my thing.
  4. Dresses. All the girls I know really love dresses and wear them on normal days, but I can't stand them and don't even want to wear them when I should.
  5. Krispy Kreme. Their donuts made me sick as a kid and now I just can't stand them.
Day 21: Five favourite words.

  1. Music
  2. Creative
  3. Unique
  4. Imagine
  5. Dream
Day 22: Five favourite gadgets.

  1. My laptop... it's a necessity for college life.
  2. Cell phone. Shocker.
  3. iPod, because my phone can't hold all my music.
  4. Kindle.
  5. Digital Camera. Better pictures than iPhone.
Day 23: Five websites you visit daily.

  1. Youtube
  2. Blogger
  4. Facebook
  5. Netflix
Day 24: Five crushes you’ve had.
I'm not going to talk about people I know personally. SO not cool. But I'll list some past celebrity crushes!
  1. Nick Jonas
  2. Cole Sprouse
  3. Taylor Lautner
  4. Cody Linley
  5. Josh Hutcherson
Day 25: Five people you talk to on a regular basis.
  1. Sarah, one of my two roommates.
  2. Erin, my other roommate.
  3. My mom.
  4. Ethan, a friend I go to school with
  5. Stephanie, who I've been friends with since my sophomore year of high school.
Day 26: Five things you want right now.

  1. NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat powder foundation. I can't buy it because I'm on project 10 pan, but I've seen a lot of people recommend it, and I love trying powder foundations.
  2. iPod. I got my ipod when the 4th generation came out, and it now tends to not work correctly.
  3. A new book! I'm not sure what, but I'm supposed to start a new book on February 1st, so I really need to get on that.
  4. A pair of size 8 circular barbells... I stretched my lobes again and haven't gotten circular barbells that fit yet.
  5. NYX makeup setting spray. I would get it, but I can't find it. That doesn't count as makeup... right?
Day 27: Five things you always buy in a supermarket.

  1. Kettle Corn. It's an obsession.
  2. Juice, because I go through it so quickly.
  3. Single servings of soup or mac & cheese
  4. Chips. More chips.
  5. Ramen. Spicy chicken flavor.
Day 28: Five favourite fandoms.

  1. Harry Potter!
  2. Supernatural
  3. Starkid
  4. Lord of the Rings
  5. Community
Day 29: Five countries you want to visit.

  1. The UK. England specifically.
  2. OK I really tried to think of places, but travelling really isn't my thing. I don't dislike it, but my type of vacation is laying in bed and watching tv or blogging.
Day 30: Five things you can’t live without.

  1. Oxygen
  2. Food
  3. Liquid
  4. Blood
  5. A body
You didn't actually think I was going to get deep with that one, right?
