Top 10 Favorite Booktubers

Hey, y'all! This is the seventh post in a 10-post series listing some of my favorite things. The first seven posts are lists of my current all-time favorites, while the last 3 posts include only favorites of 2015.

If you want to check out the other lists/posts in this series, you can check them out here:

So, originally, I was going to only have one list that was unranked, but I got into this list and was having a ton of trouble ranking them. So once again, I have a list of favorites, this time separated out into 3 different sections-- lower, middle, and top tiers. While I love a lot more booktubers, these are just the ones that I tend to watch the most regularly.

Lower Tier Baes
WellDoneBooks

Max, also known as WellDoneBooks, is a pretty recent fave. We tend to reach for very different genres and types of books, but I really like his personality and discussions, as well as his non-book videos, such as a recent one about his favorite podcasts (some of which have now become my favorite podcasts).

polandbananasBOOKS

I've been watching Christine regularly for about a year and a half. Sometimes, her personality is a bit too much, but she's always a lot of fun and has a good variety of videos. She tends to read mostly books that are really popular, which means that she tends to have reviews on books that I'm interested in reading.

Riley Marie

Riley is another more recent favorite. I started watching her earlier this year, and she's become somewhat of a staple in my booktube viewing. We have somewhat similar tastes, but it's really her personality that keeps me watching.

Middle Tier Baes
Elisabeth Paige

I first discovered Elisabeth through Regan (from PeruseProject) when she had less than a thousand subscribers, and she's been a favorite ever since. I also subscribe to her second channel, which is mostly vlogs devoted to her writing. I just really like her personality and a lot of the books she reads.

padfootandprongs07

I've been watching Raeleen for about two years at this point, but she's only recently risen to one of my favorites. It's really interesting to follow her reading challenge each year as she does it, and I feel like she reads a really interesting variety of books. Even though we don't always have the same taste in books, I do tend to really trust her reviews, and I have really enjoyed watching her videos lately.

Jessethereader

Jesse was one of the first booktubers that I watched, and I've watched him regularly ever since. I watch him mostly for his personality. While we do enjoy some of the same books, a lot of the genres/books that he actively seeks out aren't really my favorite things, and we often have differing opinions on the books that we do read. That being said, I still really enjoy his videos just because of how sweet and fun he is. His videos are always just really fun to watch.

Top Tier Baes
Lindsey Rey

I've actually only been watching Lindsey since the beginning of 2015, but she's become one of my absolute favorites very quickly. I'm constantly impressed by the sheer number of books that she's able to read, and I generally really trust her reviews. On top of that, the vast majority of videos that she makes are ones that really interest me. There are a lot of books that have been added to my TBR because of her.

Ermahgerd Berks

I'm so glad that these two have begun making videos again. I missed them so much in 2015. Jeff is possibly my most-trusted reviewer on booktube. While I definitely read a lot of books that aren't his thing, I know that if he reads a book and really enjoys it, I'm also going to really love it. Technically, it is Jamie's channel, and I do love her solo videos, but I just love the dynamic between the two of them.

Katytastic

Kat was my entryway to booktube (as, I think, she was for most people!) and she remains a favorite for me. She's always really in the know and up to date on upcoming releases and I really trust her reviews. She also just makes interesting content. Whenever one of her videos pops up in my sub box, I know it's one I'm going to really enjoy. She just has really cool and interesting ideas and I love her personality.

PeruseProject

And finally, last but not least, Regan from PeruseProject! I've been watching her for about two years, so she's another of the long-term faves. Not all of the books that she reads are my thing, but she reads some really cool fantasy, much of which has been added to my TBR because of her. This goes without saying, given that she's in my top-tier, but she's another of my most trusted reviewers. If she reads a book that sounds interesting to me and she really enjoys it, it will almost certainly be added to my TBR.

So, those are my absolute favorite booktubers! I definitely watch more, but these are the ones that I tend to watch most regularly. Which booktubers are your favorites? Let me know down in the comments?

Top 10 Favorite Albums

Hey, y'all! This is the fourth post in a 10-post series listing some of my favorite things. The first seven posts are lists of my current all-time favorites, while the last 3 posts include only favorites of 2015.

If you want to check out the other lists/posts in this series, you can check them out here:

If this list looks familiar, it's probably because it is. Somehow, my list of my favorite albums didn't change over the past year, so I essentially copied and pasted my list from last year. I wish I had something to change here, but I really don't.

#10: The Black Parade by My Chemical Romance

I'm a big fan of concept albums, and this one is really great. Although there are a couple songs I'm not a huge fan of, the majority of them are really great, and overall it's just a really great and unique album.

#9: Hold on Tight by Hey Monday

Hey Monday's one and only full-length CD is most of the reason that I count it as one of my favorite bands-- they just barely missed out on my top 10. There are so many really great songs on this CD, and I just love Cassadee Pope's voice. I really wish the band had stayed together, because this is a really solid debut.

#8: Controversy Loves Company by The Audition

Another outstanding debut album! The Audition is another band with consistently good music, but this is the first and best of their CDs. Even my least favorite song on this CD is one of their better songs. This is just a really solid album, and I absolutely love it.

#7: Almost Here by The Academy Is...

Oh, look! Another awesome debut! There are a couple songs I don't love on here, but I still really enjoy them and love the CD overall. Some of The Academy Is..'s strongest songs are on this CD, and it's especially impressive because this CD was released when most of the band were under 20.

#6: American Idiot by Green Day

This one is kinda a given, right? It's a concept album, which is obviously a plus for me. It has some amazing songs on it, especially the full 10 minute long songs like Jesus of Suburbia. It has some of the strongest Green Day songs, and I could listen to it over and over and over and over. There's a reason why it's their most well-known album.

#5: Ever After by Marianas Trench

Hey, look! Another concept album! This CD is based around a fantasy story that Josh Ramsay wrote. It's one long seamless song, divided into several tracks. And it's fantastic. Just like with their first concept album, Masterpiece Theatre, the last song is a mashup that samples all of the previous songs on the album, and it's amazing. This CD is just too great.

#4: Losing Sleep by Parachute

Guess what? Another amazing debut! I love every single song on this CD. I used to fall asleep to this CD most nights (ironic, since it's called losing sleep) because it's just so chill. Parachute's whole vibe is just really awesome, and this CD is just the epitome of their vibe. It's so great.

#3: PTX, Vol. III by Pentatonix

This is the newest release on this list, as it was released only back in October. There are only 7 songs on this CD (technically EP, but whatever), but it's perfection. It's flawless. All of the songs are amazing, and there have been several times where I just listened to this EP over and over and over in one sitting and didn't get sick of it at all. Some of the songs on the EP are already among my top 25 most played. It's that good.

#2: Don't Panic by All Time Low

When this CD came out back in 2012, I don't think I stopped listening to it on repeat until halfway through 2013. This is one of the only albums I've ever listened to where I had to struggle to find a weak point. I'm usually really good at ranking songs from favorite to least favorite, but I found that impossible with this CD. It'll be a long-time fave for sure.

#1: Radio:ACTIVE by McFly

And, of course, my all-time favorite CD is by my all-time favorite band. This CD... it's just perfection. I've listened to it on repeat SO. MANY. TIMES. since its release in 2008, and I'm nowhere near tired of it. My list of favorite McFly songs is absolutely dominated by this CD. Up until I reset my iTunes, every single song on this CD was in my top 25 most played. That's 13/25. I love this CD.

So, those are my top 15 favorite TV shows of all time. Let me know down in the comments what you think of the shows on this list, and what some of your all-time favorite TV shows are!

Top 10 Favorite Movies

Hey, y'all! This is the first post in a 10-post series listing some of my favorite things. The first seven posts are lists of my current all-time favorites, while the last 3 posts include only favorites of 2015.

If you want to check out the other lists/posts in this series, you can check them out here:

Without any further stalling, here's my list of my top 10 favorite movies! (Ranked from 10-1 to save the best for last, and including last year's rankings for reference!)

10) The Shining
[Not on the list last year]

I'm actually really surprised that this didn't end up on my list last year- it's been one of my favorite movies for a really long time, and it has almost always made my top 10. It's my second favorite horror movie ever, and I really love it.

9) The Truman Show
[#9 Last Year]

I fell in love with this movie the first time I watched it all the way back in my freshman year of college. The concept is incredibly interesting, centering around a guy named Truman, who doesn't know that his life is the most popular TV show in the country or that he lives in a world constructed entirely for him. It's just so awesome and I love everything about it and never tire of it.

8) The Ring
[#10 Last Year]

I'm surprised that this movie was at the bottom of this list last year, because it's my all-time favorite horror movie and once again, it's been my favorite for a really long time. Not only does it have some good scares, but it's got a really great plot and the mood is super ominous and creepy.

7) Pitch Perfect
[#4 Last Year]

This movie is just pure hilarity. I relate to Beca so much and love the a cappella aspects as well. And Jesse is great. The sequel didn't quite live up to the original (but it did send my roommate and I into tears because we're seniors and it hit really close to home), but this one is just awesome.

6) 10 Things I Hate About You
[#5 Last Year]

This movie is beautiful. The characters are great and the dialogue has so many hilarious gems that my roommate and I sometimes have full conversations in 10 Things I Hate About You Quotes. It's just so great. Kat and Patrick are pretty much OTP status.

5) She's The Man
[#6 Last Year]

This is one of my longest-standing favorites. It's so, so, so hilarious and incredibly nostalgic for me at this point. Pre-crazy Amanda Bynes was my favorite actress, and this was definitely my favorite Amanda Bynes movie (although Sydney White is a close second!). I laugh, I cry, and I cringe at Viola trying to be a guy. Just so beautiful.

4) The Harry Potter Series
[Not on the list last year-- WHAT?!]

So... I'm an idiot. Somehow I managed to forget to put this one on this list. WUT? I mean, how did I forget HARRY FREAKING POTTER? AKA my favorite series EVAR?! Who knows. But the series is beautiful, and I love the movies. And it's this low because it would be unfair to put an entire 8 movie series any higher-- that would just be a cop out.

3) Clue
[#3 Last Year]

I. LOVE. THIS. MOVIE. Fo real, my love for this movie just grows and grows over the years. At first, it was a so-bad-it's-good love, but given that it's purposely campy, it's grown to just pure love of this movie. It's hilarious, it's ridiculous, it's campy, and it's beautiful. I have the entire thing memorized and I never grow tired of it. Perfection.

2) The Princess Bride
[#2 Last Year]

Another cult classic favorite. The Princess Bride is just awesome. Everyone should watch this movie, because it's just so great. I first saw it at age 9, and since then I've grown to love it more and more. It's just such a great movie.

1) Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
[#1 Last Year]

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. My FAVORITE MOVIE. What can I say about this movie that I haven't already said about the preceding movies? Is it possible to gush more than I already have? IDK. But this movie is just THE BEST. So insanely hilarious. Totally my sense of humor. So silly. So fun. So many quotable lines. I just love this whole thing.

So, those are my top 10 favorite movies of all time. Let me know down in the comments what you think of the movies on this list, and what some of your all-time favorite movies are!

Updated Project Runway Predictions/ Top 10 Designer Rankings!

Hey, y'all! So, at the beginning of this season of Project Runway, I did a post where I discussed each designer and my prediction as to how well they'll do this season. I based my opinions solely off of their showing on Road to the Runway, so I had not gotten the chance to experience how they're being edited, how they work under pressure, how they handle the time constraints, etc. So, now that we've gotten into the top 10 and I've somewhat embarrassed myself (mostly just because of personal bias), I've decided to do updated predictions. And I'll still talk a bit about already-eliminated designers just so that I can discuss my opinions on their eliminations.

This time around, I'm not going to do both a "who I want" and a "legit prediction." I'm just going to stick to my legitimate predictions as to who will do well, and try to not be TOO biased. Plus, my personal winner pick is the same as my prediction, so there's that. Once again, I'll be predicting both the top 4 & the winner. I've also decided (just for funsies) to make an elimination chart prediction. So basically I'll be listing what I think will be the elimination order from this point forward.

Just as a reference point:
Early cut= first 3-4 eliminations
Long-term= top 6 designers
Middle of the pack= everything in-between

Amanda Perna
5th Elimination
Initial prediction: Middle of the pack

Technically, I was right because 5th cut does fall under "middle of the pack," but I expected her to do better. I thought she would make it a lot further, based on her edit and on the fact that she was a returning designer. I expected 7th-8th place, but given how much she's struggled so far, it's not that surprising.

Ashley Nell Tipton
Still in!
Initial prediction: Middle of the pack

I'll be the first to admit that I didn't give Ashley the credit that she deserves. I liked her, but was very worried for her pre-season, because I thought that her clothing looked reminiscent of other stuff, was worried about her being able to design for "model" size, and thought she would be an early-middle boot. Yikes. Yikes. Yikes. So very wrong. So far, she's been outstanding, and I expect to see her for a while longer.

Blake Patterson
6th Elimination
Initial prediction: Middle of the pack

I stand by my initial prediction. I'm actually surprised he stayed in this long. The only thing I actually liked of his was the dress he made for the team challenge. Seriously, we got pretty much exactly what I expected from him.

Candice Cuoco
Still in!
Initial prediction: Long-term

I'm not sure how I feel about Candice. I feel like she's made some really great things, but I think the team challenge really tainted my view of her. I'm hoping that she rebounds from that episode and becomes a little more likeable.

David Giampiccolo
2nd Elimination
Initial prediction: Out early

Well, at least I was right even he didn't get eliminated for the reasons I expected. I seriously thought that the judges wouldn't get him, but he barely even got to show them his aesthetic because he didn't do what he was supposed to on the unconventional challenge. It made me sad, because I thought that he seemed super sweet, but I'm not surprised.

Duncan Chambers-Watson
1st Elimination
Initial prediction: Long-term

This is the one that hurt the most, to be honest. I picked him as the person I really wanted to win, so I was thoroughly embarrassed when he was eliminated first. However, like I said in my original post, I didn't peg him as one of the four that I really expected to make it to the end, even though I really wanted him to. However, I stand by the fact that before the season, he seemed to have a lot of promise. I really wish we could've seen a bit more from him.

Edmond Newton
Still in!
Initial prediction: Middle of the pack.

I said in my last post that I didn't know what to do with Edmond... and I still don't. Part of me really wants to say that he's going to make it long-term, but I'm not totally sure. He's made a few things that have really impressed me, and some things that I didn't think were so great. (Mostly just that Hanmiao look and his first dress which I thought was really boring.) Overall, I like the designs that he's shown on the show a lot more than the ones I saw pre-season, so I'm really hoping that he continues to do well because I like him as a person.

Gabrielle Arruda
4th Elimination
Initial prediction: Middle of the pack.

Well, I was pretty much right with this one. I said I thought she could last a few weeks, and I was right. She ended up right on the bubble of early out & middle of the pack, and I expected that. She just didn't make much of an impression at all. My roommate (who watches the show just as regularly as I do) had barely even figured out which one Gabrielle was by the time she was eliminated.

Hanmiao Yang
3rd Elimination
Initial prediction: Long-term

OK, let me explain myself. I was skeptical about her making it to the end, which is why I put her in the list of people I wanted in the finale, but not in the list of people I expected to see in the finale. I was really worried that she would not be edited as the second coming of Ping, and that's what happened. I was really hopeful because she seemed to have a more modern & approachable aesthetic than Ping, but alas, she was eliminated in essentially the exact same way that Ping was. It was really disappointing. I knew by the first episode that she wouldn't make it anywhere near as far as I had hoped she would.

Jake Wall
Still in!
Initial prediction: Early cut.

This most recent episode is finally showing us exactly what I've been expecting from Jake. I've been pretty down on him since the pre-season and I'm honestly very surprised that he's still there. I only vaguely remembered a couple of his designs, so I went back and looked at them, and so far they've all been painfully boring. I don't think he has a clear point of view, and I really don't think he has any chance of winning.

Joseph Charles Poli
Still in!
Initial prediction: Long-term.

Joseph is an interesting one. We got a lot of him in the team challenge, but really haven't seen him much either before or after that. I think that I was a little too impressed with him pre-season. I thought his designs were clean, simple, and really well executed. However, all I ever hear about his designs is matronly, so it's really not looking good for him right about now. I definitely think he's going to make it for a while longer, but definitely not as far as I originally predicted.

Kelly Dempsey
Still in!
Initial prediction: Early cut.

I was a little mean to Kelly in the pre-season. I predicted that she would be the first elimination, but clearly I was very wrong. I still don't have high hopes for her, because she really hasn't made anything outstanding, She's really flying under the radar right now, but I think that once some more of the weak designers get eliminated, Kelly is going to come more to the forefront and get eliminated shortly thereafter. And I still really don't like her aesthetic.

Laurie Underwood
Still in!
Initial prediction: Early cut.

Every season, there's that one person (sometimes a few people) that I just completely forget exists. Laurie is that person this season. And is it really that surprising? The most interesting thing she's made so far was on the team challenge when she was paired up with Swapnil (AKA Kristen's winner pick since the pre-season) and he seemed to do the work that the judges really liked. She isn't getting much camera time or much time with the judges. For some contestants, that's just temporary and they eventually break out of that rut, but I think she's going to be one of the designers whose aesthetic just isn't going to get them very far.

Lindsey Creel
Still in!
Initial prediction: Long term.

I don't know what to do about Lindsey. I don't think she's quite living up to my pre-season expectations. So far, she's been decent, but not outstanding. She's one of the one's who's floating the most, but unlike Laurie, I think that she has a strong enough aesthetic that she can thrive once some of the weaker designers get cut. That being said, I'm definitely not as optimistic about her as I was before the season.

Merline Labissiere
Still in!
Initial prediction: Middle of the pack.

I really just don't know about Merline. She's done pretty well, but I'm not exactly sure what her aesthetic is. I think that she's definitely going to make it quite a bit further, but I don't think she's going to make the finale cut.

Swapnil Shinde
Still in!
Initial prediction: Long term.

Did I make a good winner pick, or what?! Sure, he hasn't won a challenge yet, but he's been in the top for every single challenge except for the first one. He's just been performing incredibly well and incredibly consistently. I'm just really impressed with his performance so far, and he's definitely the one who I believe most deserves to win.

Predictions!

Ranking Predictions:
10) Jake Wall
9) Laurie Underwood
8) Kelly Dempsey
7) Joseph Charles Poli
6) Lindsey Creel
5) Merline Labissiere

Predictions for the Finale!

Swapnil

Ashley

Edmond

Candice

I'm not going to do an official ranking of the finale designers until I'm able to see the collections they're presenting at NYFW, but if I had to choose right now, I'm putting Ashley in 2nd, Edmond in 3rd, and Candice in 4th.

My Official Winner Prediction!

Swapnil

Duh.

So, that's it for my Project Runway Season 14 updated predictions! I can't wait to see how the designers' NYFW collections turn out! Fingers crossed, you might be seeing a post about that sometime next week.
