Top 9 Favorite Youtubers [Non-Booktube]

Hey, y'all! This is the sixth post in a 10-post series listing some of my favorite things. The first seven posts are lists of my current all-time favorites, while the last 3 posts include only favorites of 2015.

A Few of My Favorite Things [2015]

So, originally, I was going to only have one list that was unranked, but I got into this list and was having a ton of trouble ranking them. So once again, I have a list of favorites, with a few distinguished as my ultimate favorites (which will be at the end of the list). The rest are in alphabetical order. It's been a while (a whole year!) since I've ranked these, and there are a ton of newcomers and a ton that have slipped off the list, so this list is very different from the ones that have come before it.

Game Theory
[first time on the list]

I've been subscribed to Game Theory for quite a while, but didn't really watch anything but their FNAF theories until about March, when I started to really get into gaming videos. I really like a bunch of their videos, and have seen almost all of the Game Theory series. I also really got into their GTLive streams, especially when they were doing the Until Dawn series. They were definitely one of my most-watched channels in 2015, so it had to be on the list.

Jacksepticeye
[first time on the list]

Because it's been almost an entire year since making a list of my favorite YouTubers, I forget that this is the first time that many of my current stand-by favorites have been on the list. That's the case with Jack/Sean. I first started watching him almost a year ago, after beginning to watch Markiplier. I was a bit hesitant at first, but I've since fallen in love with his personality and his commentary style. He definitely isn't one of those YouTubers where I watch every single video that he posts (because he posts 2 videos a day-- many of which are part of long-running series) but whenever I notice that he's played a game I'm interested in, I know I have to watch it. 

Markiplier
[first time on the list]

Just like Jack, I forgot that Mark had never been on this list before, because of how much of a standard his channel is in my life now. I first discovered him like many people- because of his FNAF videos, and it was a good six months before I bothered to watch any of his other content. In fact, I'm pretty sure that I had already started watching him when I made last year's list, I just hadn't gotten super into him yet. But he became a quick favorite and I think that he's just genuinely a great guy on top of having a fun personality and sense of humor.

PBS Game/Show
[first time on the list]

Now, you're probably wondering why TWO channels on this list are devoted to gaming analysis/criticism. But PBS Game Channel and Game Theory are two very different channels. Game Theory tends to focus on the logistics of a game, whereas PBS Game Channel tends to look at the outside implications of the game, such as social repercussions and influences (feminism, race issues, sexuality, etc). This is why I tend to slightly prefer PBS Game Channel- I love all of the social discussions that go on, especially the feminism discussions. Either way, this has quickly become one of my favorite channels, and I'm always quick to click on a new video when it pops up in my subscription box.

PBS Idea Channel
[2nd time on the list. #5 last year]

This may only be its second time on the list, but I've been watching Idea Channel for over a year and a half. Mike Rugnetta, the host, is one of my absolute favorite humans. He's hilarious, witty, sarcastic, and super smart, on top of being geeky, musical, and just all-around super cool. His discussions are always really interesting and typically based in pop culture, which is one of my favorite things. So yeah, I really enjoy Mike's stuff.

Smosh Games/ Smosh Franchise
[5th time on the list. #2 last time]

While I took a bit of time away from Smosh this year, I always find my way back again, and this was no exception. I have watched Ian and Anthony since way back in 2007, and while I used to love their sketches, I tend to prefer the stuff where it's just them and their actual personalities (AKA the content on Smosh 2nd Channel and Smosh Games). Typically, my favorite of their channels is Smosh Games (big surprise, given the rest of this list), and my favorite series is Game Bang.

Superfruit
[4th time on the list. #1 (tie) last time]

I love these two. Like a lot. They've clearly fallen from my top spot, but they're still right up there near the top. The thing is that their channel tends to go through periods of really awesome videos, followed by slumps. And lately, I feel like they've been in a bit of a slump. I haven't been as excited by the videos popping up in my sub box, and I'm not sure whether that's because I'm not in the mood for it (always possible) or because their content isn't as exciting lately. Either way, slumpiness aside, I love these two and they're adorable and are right up there near the top.

WatchMojo
[3rd time on the list. Not ranked last time]

I've been watching WatchMojo for quite a while, and even though they fell off the list last year, they got right back on, because I've been watching them a lot throughout 2015. It's one of those channels where I don't realize how much I watch (because it's on so many different topics) but then when I take a step back, I realize that I watch this channel a lot. Like, a lot, a lot.

Ultimate bae:
Dan/Danisnotonfire and Phil/AmazingPhil!
[5th time on the list, #1 (tie) last time]

Just like last time, I've combined these two into a single slot because they're basically a package deal. On top of that, the videos that I most look forward to from them are their DanAndPhilGames videos. I especially love Dan over Phil, but my favorite videos are absolutely the ones that they do together. I love the dynamic that they have going, and I get excited whenever I see one of their videos pop up in my subscription box. Their friendship is adorable, and I love them.

My Favorite Youtubers- Spring 2015!

Hey, y'all! So, I recently realized that it was actually time for another update to my favorite YouTubers. What?! How has time gone by so quickly? I'm already halfway through my junior year of college. What even?! Anyway, it actually took me a really long time to figure out this list, because I made several changes to the formatting of the list.

First, I cut this list down to 15. There are a lot of YouTubers that I enjoy, but I wanted to focus on the ones that I really, really love. Also, the format of this list will be basically the same as the format I used in the very first favorite YouTubers post. However, like the last post, I will note how many times they have appeared on the list, as well as where they appeared last time!

#15- Shane Dawson

4th time on the list! (Previously #15)

As I've said many times, I've been watching Shane pretty much since the beginning of his first channel. I subscribed when he had like 15,000 subs and not a ton of videos, and I've been watching ever since. I don't watch his videos on an extremely regular basis, but he's still one of my faves.

#14- SoundlyAwake/StillSoundlyAwake

(AKA Nick Foti)

4th time on the list! (Previously #12)

Nick Foti... I just love him. His sense of humor is just the best. I don't even know how to accurately describe it... he just has some really funny ways of saying things and is wonderfully sarcastic. I used to watch his daily vlogs every day, but lately I've just been enjoying watching his main channel videos with the occasional daily vlog.

#13- JesseTheReader

2nd time on the list! (Previously #9)

As I've said in the past, although Jesse is one of my favorite BookTubers, it's not because of his taste in books. We like some of the same books, but the real reason that his videos are so enjoyable is because of his hilarious personality. He's just so excitable and hyper, and watching his videos is always lots of fun.

#12- PeruseProject

2nd time on the list! (Previously #10)

Regan is on this list for the opposite reason of Jesse-- we have a very similar taste in books. There are some areas where we don't totally line up, like lately she's been reading some books that aren't interesting to me at all, but her favorite genre is fantasy, and she enjoys reading both YA fantasy and adult fantasy, and I love both of those. Also, as I've mentioned in the past, Regan and I actually went to high school together. She was a year behind me, and we weren't friends, but we did have a lot of mutual friends because we both were pretty active in the arts-- I was in orchestra, and she did theater.

#11- Ermahgerd Berks

1st time on the list! (Previously an honorable mention)

We've come to the first newcomer on the list! And since they aren't as well-known, I'll talk about them a little more in-depth. Ermahgerd Berks is primarily Jamie's channel, but her fiance, Jeff, is on a lot of her videos and she likes to refer to the channel as theirs rather than just hers. As is probably obvious from the title, they're booktubers. And they have very different taste in books. Jamie likes a really wide variety of books, but she tends to read contemporaries and YA fantasy, while Jeff's favorite genre is adult fantasy/sci-fi and he doesn't really read or enjoy many books outside of that genre. I really love both of them, and I especially enjoy the dynamic between them because they're constantly bickering and it's hilarious. And I especially enjoy when Jeff is on a video because I also enjoy adult fantasy, and his fantasy recommendations are always on-point. His recommendations have never steered me wrong.

#10- Buzzfeed

1st time on the list!

I absolutely love watching Buzzfeed's videos, especially the Try Guys videos, which is why I chose a picture featuring the four try guys. My favorite Buzzfeed videos are the ones where the staff are there either acting or trying things (as opposed to the lists, like "7 ways to be more healthy"). However, whenever I see a Buzzfeed video in my sub box, chances are that it interests me and that I will click on it pretty quickly.

#9- EvanEdinger

2nd time on the list! (Previously #11)

I honestly don't know how anyone could not love Evan and his bad puns. They're so terrible but so wonderful at the same time. We have pretty much the same sense of humor, and he's just so adorably awkward. And I love how often he laughs at his own terrible jokes. It's just such an endearing quality. He's just hilarious, and I also follow him on Snapchat and that is just as wonderful as his YouTube channel.

#8- MattG124

4th time on the list! (Previously #4)

Matt has fallen a few slots on this list, which is really unfortunate, but there's a really simple explanation... I MISS DARE MATTG. The last time that I made this list, Dare MattG had about 5/6 episodes left... and then it was gone. I didn't know that he was stopping at Dare MattG 100 until he made #100. I thought that he was going to continue on. Apparently not. I really enjoyed watching Game or Shame on Dare MattG, and I enjoyed the first version of Game or Shame, where he and Jay watched videos and guessed the outcome. However, I only somewhat like this newest version where he and Jay compete by playing Playstation games. I don't hate it, I just like both of the older versions better, and it makes me not watch him quite as much as I used to.

#7- Jacksfilms

4th time on the list! (Previously #7)

Over the last couple months, I hadn't been watching Jack a ton except for his Your Grammar Sucks series. However, a few weeks ago, I started watching him regularly again. I especially like his new series called YIAY (Yesterday I Asked You). I'm not sure how much I'm going to be watching him once he finishes Your Grammar Sucks, but when I watched YGS #99, I started tearing up bigtime. PLEASE DON'T END IT, JACK!!! 

#6- Katytastic

2nd time on the list! (Previously #8)

Kat is probably my favorite booktuber, hence her being the booktuber who is ranked highest on this list. I think that overall, she just produces the most enjoyable content. I really like her book lists that she does (like her book bucket list for 2015, or her most anticipated 2015 releases). Except when Kat posts videos with spoilery discussions about books I want to read, I watch every single video she posts as soon as I see it in my sub box. 

#5- PBSIdeaChannel

1st time on the list! (Previously an honorable mention)

Another channel that's on this list for the first time! PBS Idea Channel is a lot like VSauce in the fact that each video has a topic, which the host then discusses to a level that many people would consider "over-analysis." Except that PBS Idea Channel is a lot cooler. The host, Mike Rugnetta, is my spirit animal. He's hilarious, sarcastic, geeky, and a bit of a hipster, but in a really wonderful way. He does most of the writing for the videos, and the topics are always really interesting. And the end of each video is dedicated to comments posted on the last video, discussing things that Mike might have left out. I've seen almost all of the videos on this channel, and there are a lot of them. I've also actually been watching Mike since the summer, but I'd hit an Idea Channel lull around the time that I posted my last list, and he missed out on making it to the official list. 

#4- The Fine Bros

4th time on the list! (Previously #3)

And we have now gotten up to the returning, long-standing favorites. These guys have fallen just slightly because I used to watch every video they posted, but some of their series aren't my favorite anymore. I used to watch all of their react videos, but lately I've been skipping Kids React. I also tend to skip their advice series, as well as some of the gaming reacts (depending on the game). But that's still a fairly small fraction of their content, so they still belong all the way up here.

#3- Good Mythical Morning

4th time on the list! (Previously #6)

These two have made their way back into the top 3 again (before being at #6, they were at #3). And this is definitely where they belong. I used to watch every single day, regardless of how interesting the topic sounded, and then I got into a Rhett and Link slump and kinda just stopped watching for a little while. But I started watching regularly once again, and even though I don't watch every single day, I do watch the majority of their videos.

#2- Smosh

4th time on the list! (Previously #5 [Smosh Games] and 13 [main channel])

I made the executive decision that I would combine Smosh's channels into one single slot for this list. The channel that I watch the most is definitely Smosh Games. There are several series on there (specifically Game Bang!) that I look forward to every week and watch regularly. I also watch Smosh 2nd Channel a lot- specifically Smosh is Bored and Lunchtime with Smosh... which has disappeared lately. Did I miss something? Where did Lunchtime with Smosh go? It's supposed to be every other week, but there hasn't been one for a month. I will admit, however, that I haven't watched a main channel video since Food Battle. I just prefer to watch them being themselves rather than watching their sketches. Whenever I watch their sketches, it's always an older one.

Superfruit and Dan & Phil!

I tried, y'all. I tried so hard to choose. But I simply couldn't. This is the result of Superfruit's video quality being a little lower lately and the fact that Dan and Phil Games videos are possibly my most anticipated videos of any channel ever.

Superfruit

3rd time on the list! (Previously #1)

What can I say? I just absolutely love these two. Like I said, I haven't been loving their videos quite as much lately, but they do tend to go through little lulls where their videos aren't quite as awesome, and that's probably all that this is. Either way, regardless of how much I enjoy the video they put out each week, I always enjoy the experience of watching it, because I absolutely love the two of them. I love them so much ughhh. #scomiche #fcute

Dan and Phil

4th time on the list! (Previously #2 [Dan] & 18 [Phil])

This is another one where I decided to combine channels together. Because, let's be honest, Dan and Phil are a package deal. As I've said many times in the past, Dan is my spirit animal (yes, I also said that about Mike Rugnetta, but Dan is my spirit animal more than Mike). If I split Dan and Phil up and ranked them separately, Dan would still find himself right here, and Phil would find himself somewhere just outside of the top 10. So basically, I love Phil, but my love for Dan is what got them to this spot, as well as my love for their friendship. However, the biggest reason that I put them together is because they have a joint gaming channel (which they started days after I made my last list- I was furious!) and it's amazing. I love everything that they post on there. Especially their video playing Portal 2.

My Favorite Youtubers- Fall 2014 Edition!

Hey, y'all! So I've mentioned a couple times that I planned to get this post made, and it's finally happening. This will be formatted slightly differently than the previous posts. I'm going to discuss Youtubers that I really enjoy by category, and then I'll do the list ranking my top 25. Also, since I'm weird, I'll mention whether they're a returning favorite, or a newcomer. So, that being said, let's get straight into it!

British Vloggers

Danisnotonfire (Dan Howell)

3rd time on the list!

If y'all have seen any of the lists before this one, you know my deep-rooted love for Dan Howell. He's basically the male version of me. He was also #1 on both of my previous lists. I just love him a lot. 

AmazingPhil (Phil Lester)

3rd time on the list!

While I don't love Phil quite as much as I love his flatmate/bff, Dan, I watch him regularly. There are some youtubers whose new videos I have to watch as soon as I see them, and he's one of them. 

PointlessBlog (Alfie Deyes)

3rd time on the list!

Yet another 3 time fave! Alfie was one of the first British Youtubers I watched, and he's still one of my favorites. He's my age, so it's really cool to see someone my age being so successful doing what they love. And he's really funny... and adorable. I don't watch him quite as much as I used to, but he's still a fave.

Marcus Butler

3rd time on the list!

Kinda like with Dan & Phil, Marcus and Alfie are best friends and I usually favor Alfie over Marcus. Obviously, I still really like Marcus because he's one of my favorites, but lately I haven't been watching him quite as much.

Superfruit (Mitch Grassi & Scott Hoying)

2nd time on the list!

So, if you didn't know, Scott (in the hat) and Mitch (the brunette) are 2/5 of the a cappella singing group, Pentatonix. They've been best friends since age 10 and they live together and have an adorable sphynx cat named Wyatt. I discovered that Superfruit was a thing mere weeks after posting my first favorite Youtubers post, so they missed out on the first one, but my love for these two is real. I eagerly anticipate each video from them, and have seen all of their videos many, MANY times.

MattG124 (Matt Gibson)

3rd time on the list!

This section was almost called "American Vloggers," but then I remembered that Matt is Canadian. Anyway, Matt posts videos twice a week- he has random vlogs on Tuesdays and Dare MattG on Fridays... there are almost 100 Dare MattG videos and I have seen almost all of those. It's also fun to see what hair color he's sporting each week because currently, his hair is all black, but his bangs are usually green or red or blue or some other fun color. On the first list, I'd just discovered him, so I hadn't watched a ton, but now that I've seen way too many of his videos, I can confidently say that he's a fave.

Evan Edinger

First time on the list!

I'm actually really surprised that this is Evan's first time on the list, but it is! I feel like I've been watching him for forever, but I guess not? Anyway, Evan is an American Youtuber who has been living in England for the past couple years, so I'm not sure that the non-British section is where he belongs, but that's where I'm putting him. He's really nerdy and he has the best terrible puns and dad jokes and I always love getting to watch a new video from him every Sunday!

Connor Franta

3rd time on the list!

I know a lot of people were really upset that Connor left O2L, but I was really glad about it. Honestly, I can't stand any of the O2L guys. But I love me some Connor Franta. He's not my absolute favorite person ever, but I do really enjoy his videos. 

Tyler Oakley

3rd time on the list!

Unlike many of the Youtubers on this list, I think I've grown to like Tyler more since my last post rather than falling out of love with him. I still wouldn't consider myself to be a Tyler superfan, but I definitely watch a lot more than I used to, and look forward to his videos rather than just being a casual viewer.

Shane Dawson

3rd time on the list

I've been watching Shane Dawson for much longer than I've watched almost all of the other Youtubers on this list. I remember back when he had less than 20,000 subscribers, and I'll never forget Hodini's Street Magic. Too great. Anyway, I'm so happy for how everything has turned out for him, and I find myself watching his daily vlogs more than anything else he ever makes, which is why he ends up here.

Joey Graceffa

3rd time on the list!

Like with a lot of Youtubers, I don't watch Joey quite as much as I used to, but I still really love his videos. I usually watch his daily vlogs, but I also tend to really like his collabs, especially when he's doing a collab with Shane or one of my other favorite Youtubers.

SoundlyAwake (Nicola Foti)

3rd time on the list!

Nick (the one in the brown sweater) has several Youtube channels. His main channel is SoundlyAwake, which is where he posts weekly sketches/vlogs. While I enjoy those videos quite a bit, I generally find myself watching the daily vlogs that he and his bf, Ken, post on their second channel, StillSoundlyAwake. Lately, I haven't been keeping up with their videos, but that's partially because it's hard to keep up when people post new videos every single day.

This is a section of Youtube that I got into near the beginning of the year, but didn't get into them quite early enough for them to be included on the January list... but I've got my faves, and they're all down below!

Katytastic (Kat O'Keeffe)

First time on the list!

Kat was the first booktuber that I started watching on a regular basis. She was my introduction into Booktube, and I haven't looked back since. As far as reviewer trust goes, she's really high up on my list. We tend to have the same opinions about books and like the same genres, so I really love watching her book hauls and wrap-ups/reviews to get opinions and suggestions for what to read next. I also really love her tag videos. The only videos of hers that I don't really watch are when it pertains to spoilers about a book I haven't read yet.

JesseTheReader (Jesse George)

First time on the list!

There are some Booktubers that I watch because I want to get ideas for new books coming out or maybe to get opinions on a book I want to read, but I watch Jesse purely for entertainment. Jesse is crazy and hilarious and extremely fun to watch. We don't always have the same taste in books, or agree on how good a book is, but I always love his videos because of how excited and crazy he is in his videos. He's lots of fun, so that keeps it entertaining even if I'm not quite as interested in the books that he's talking about.

Peruse Project (Regan)

First time on the list!

So, fun fact- I actually went to high school with Regan! Also, I'm not 100% sure that her last name is common knowledge, because when I googled her using her first and last name, none of her Youtube stuff showed up. So just in case she doesn't want her full name out there, I'm not listing her last name.

So yeah, we went to high school together, but she was a year behind me so we didn't really know each other. The only reason I realized we went to school together was because I saw her youtube and she looked like someone I'd seen in the halls in HS and so I checked my yearbook, and lo and behold, she was there. I promise I'm not a weird, crazy stalker. 

Anyway, she's my go-to booktuber when it comes to fantasy. Regan is the queen of fantasy. I love seeing her book hauls and challenges and any tags that she does. Obviously I still trust her opinion about other types of books, but especially when it comes to fantasy. 

Ariel Bissett

First time on the list!

It actually took me a really long time to get into Ariel's videos. I was completely aware of her channel and had watched one or two videos, but for some reason, my interest just wasn't quite peaked. Maybe I watched the wrong video or maybe I just wasn't in the right mood. I don't know. The thing about Ariel is that she has a pretty different taste in books than I do. Her favorite genre is contemporary, and she finds it hard to get into fantasies sometimes. I read fantasy constantly, and can rarely get into contemporaries. However, it's not her taste in books that gets her on this list- it's her discussion videos. She often posts videos that make me think about my own opinions on books and authors in a deeper way than I normally would.

One example of this is that she posted a video a few months back pertaining to favorite authors and she said that she doesn't consider JK Rowling to be one of her favorite authors, even though she holds the Harry Potter series in extremely high regard. Because she doesn't feel obligated to go out and buy everything by her, she feels that she can't count her among her favorites, which is an interesting idea that I had never thought of before.

Good Mythical Morning (Rhett & Link)

3rd time on the list!

Rhett and Link have been a staple in my life for quite a while now. I used to watch them every day, but in the past few months, I've been watching more like a few times a week, depending on how interesting that episode sounds. I still absolutely love them, I just don't have time to watch every single day.

The Fine Bros (Benny & Rafi Fine)

3rd time on the list!

Between their main channel and their React channel, these two pop up in my news feed many, many times a week, and I find myself watching either all or almost all of their content. I just really enjoy all of the react series, as well as all of the new series that they've started on their new channel. The only time I really miss a video is when they're doing something spoilery that I haven't seen.

Smosh (Anthony Padilla & Ian Hecox)

3rd time on the list!

I guess that sketches isn't really the right section for these two, but this is where they're going, because this is what their main channel is. I started watching them back in 2007 or 2008 and have been a fan ever since. Anymore, I don't really watch a lot of their main channel videos. I do, however, watch Smosh 2nd Channel (Previously Ian H) quite a bit. I think I've watched every single episode of Lunchtime With Smosh.

Jacksfilms (Jack Douglass)

3rd time on the list!

Jack does this great series on his channel called Your Grammar Sucks, where he reads/ makes fun of comments and posts that have horrible, horrible grammar mistakes. As a grammar Nazi, I absolutely love this series. I've watched every single episode of it, and it never gets old. Ever.

Smosh Games

2nd time on the list!

I continually watch more and more of their series. My favorite is Game Bang, where the six of them compete in video games, but I also like their Top 5 lists, Why We're Single, and Gametime With Smosh. Needless to say, I watch Smosh Games quite a bit. 

MassageASMR (Dmitri)

2nd time on the list!

Any time I need to focus, I turn on an ASMR video. I'd listen to music, but that's just too distracting. I also listen to ASMR videos to get to sleep. There are a couple I like (JustAWhisperingGuy is my 2nd fave!) but Dmitri is my go-to dude. He's got tons of great videos with and without talking, and it's great to listen to if you want to relax or sleep. He has a really soothing voice.

EmilyNoel83 (Emily Eddington)

2nd time on the list!

I don't watch a ton of beauty vloggers, but I do watch Emily. I usually trust her opinions on products and so I watch a lot because of that. I also love seeing hauls and such. Also, she does Drugstore a lot more than a lot of youtubers, which I greatly appreciate.

She's loud, she's crazy, and she's absolutely hilarious. She totally embraces being really weird, and I love that about her. I also really love her "Does This Thing Really Work" videos. Those are my favorites.

This is a youtube channel that posts top 10 lists on a daily basis (sometimes more than once a day). They're usually entertainment based, such as the top 10 rock bands or something to that effect. They're not always super-interesting, but when I see one that looks really cool, I just have to watch it.

Top 25 Favorite Youtubers

For this, I did something a little different. I was having trouble organizing my thoughts on what order they should be in, so I made a bit of a chart with different categories and gave them points from 1-5 in each. Yes, I'm aware that I'm a nerd. Anyway, I didn't necessarily order them by the points they received, but I used it to help me out just a bit. I'll list the points the Youtuber got beside their name. There were 5 categories, so the most points a Youtuber can get is 25.

So there you go, those are my current favorite Youtubers. I actually surprised myself with how far some of my all-time faves have fallen, but I just don't watch some of them on a regular basis anymore.
