A Little About Me...

Hey, y'all! I figured that since I've been doing this blogging thing for a while, and quite a few people have read my blog, it might be cool to let you know a bit more about me and stuff that I like. So I decided to let you in on a bit of my interests. I left a couple blank just because I didn't really want to answer it. This might become a Saturday thing, but I haven't decided yet! So here you go, a little look into my brain!

Hot or ice tea?:	Neither. Even though I'm from the south, I hate tea. The smell even makes me gag. I just hate it.

You refuse to eat?:	There are quite a few things I don't like, but I promise I'm really not a picky eater! I'm not big on veggies. But one food that I REALLY hate is Doritos. Ick.
Best thing you've ever eaten::	I really like the restaurant Babes. Their chicken and mashed potatoes are just SO good.

21 Things About You Challenge

1) What is your name and were you named after anyone?

If I haven't already said it somewhere on here, my name is Kristen! And I wasn't named after anyone, my parents just liked the name. My mom did tell me, though, that if she'd had another daughter, her name would be Reagan. 

2) What are your top 3 favorite colors?

Ooh, only 3? I'm gonna do this just saying black isn't a color. Because... it's kinda not. But I love black. 

Because I'm really picky, I'll link the exact shade I'm talking about 

My favorite color is red. . I also love turquoise/teal, which are technically 2 different colors, but since most people lump them together and assume they're the same, I will too. I also really love purple.

3) What kind of people do you surround yourself with?

Hmm... well, in August, I went off to college, and the only real connecting thread through most of the friends I made was the fact that like me, they don't drink and don't party. So basically, I'm drawn to straightedge people like myself. Another requirement is usually liking Harry Potter, but that's different.

4) List four goals you plan to accomplish in the future

-graduate college with a degree in music and psychology!

- learn to play some instruments better

-do something with my life

6) Describe yourself in a lengthy paragraph

Lengthy? Lengthy is my middle name. I go way too into detail with almost everything. I'm a walking confusing contradiction. I obsess over things pretty easily and one of my biggest obsessions is Harry Potter. I use my house to describe myself. I'm a Slytherclaw- combo of Ravenclaw and Slytherin. I'm a grammar nazi. I'm a huge music snob, and I love good music more than almost anything else. I've gotten extremely interested in psychology in recent months, and have decided to study it in college, along with music. If my plans go correctly, I want to do research on music and the brain. I'm also a pretty big nerd in general, and I enjoy being by myself a lot. My favorite thing about being home for the summer (besides spending time with family) is not having a roommate and being able to stay up late in bed on my laptop, like I am now. I love and appreciate almost anything artistic and nearly all of my interests in life are either intelligence or creativity driven. I love reading and have wanted to be an author almost my entire life. I've been working on a few stories for several years, but they've had to be put on the backburner, since it's not a feasable or stable job. One day, though, I do really want to publish at least one. I HATE really big changes (like moving and making new friends- I'm not a people person) but I adapt really well to change and usually grow to like it. And if I don't have small changes in my life, I go a little crazy ( I have to rearrange my CD shelf or bookshelf often to keep it interesting). So yeah, I think that's about it...

7) List seven wishes

I'm thinking that these should be illogical/ genie wishes. So that's what I'm going to do.

-I wish that there was a cure for celiac disease. It's when you're gluten intolerant. My mom's had it since I was 3, and it would be nice for her to eat whatever she wants, whenever she wants it, without having to worry about it.

-That my family had never moved to the town we live in now. We moved here for a job, and since I've been gone to college, I'm spending the entire summer (including my birthday) without any friends :(

-That my dad had a stable job back in Dallas. Which is kinda a supplement to the last one.

-That there was a foolproof cure to acne. Ever since jr. high, I've had pretty bad acne, and nothing I've ever used has been helpful, and I can't use anything that uses salicylic acid because my face drys up immediately.

-That I was a lot better at playing the viola. As a music major, I should be able to play better than I do, even though I don't want to go into performance. 

-That I would never get nervous. Because that always messes up my viola performances. Always.

-That I could make money doing this rather than working in a store. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited (and nervous) about starting my new job, but it would be so nice to earn money from blogging.

8) What is your go-to song?

I guess it depends on the situation. When I'm trying to fall asleep, I always listen to the Parachute album 'Losing Sleep' (I honestly JUST realized how ironic that is) and I always start it on the song Ghost. It's kinda funny, the first time I used that cd, it was on shuffle and it started on Ghost and I fell asleep immediately, and the next time I used it, it started on a different song and I couldn't fall asleep. So I started the shuffle on Ghost and I fell asleep. So it's almost a superstition/luck thing. ANYWAY, I have go-to summer songs (The Beach- All Time Low, Barefoot Blue Jean Night- Jake Owen), go-to jam songs, go-to chill songs, etc. 

9) What is your favorite season and why?

Summer! And not just because there's no school. Although that's a big factor. I'm a June baby, so summer means birthday. It also means warm weather, which I LOVE. I hate the cold. SO MUCH. Currently, I'm not a big fan of being out of school because I'm not with my friends, but I'll live. 

10) What is your favorite movie?

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. In case you didn't know, it's a 1989 movie (I love 80's movies SO MUCH) about 2 guys who are besties and total idiots. They're about to fail history and flunk out of school, and if they do, Ted gets sent to military school and they can never start their band. In the future, their music has caused complete peace and happiness, so a guy named Rufus is sent back in time with a time machine to help the guys pass their final history report. It's completely stupid humor and I absolutely love it (Favorite quote- Teacher: "Ted, who was Joan of Arc?" Ted: "Uhhh... Noah's wife?"). Fun fact, this movie is also where the "conspiracy Keanu" meme comes from. And I can even tell you the exact moment it's a screenshot of. Bill and Ted are in England, trying to escape knights who are chasing them. Bill is trying to get the time machine to work, and Ted sees that the knights are closing in on them.

11) What is your dream vacation?

Going to Orlando and getting Disney and Universal all to myself. BEST. VACATION. EVER.

12) List six things you love about yourself.

- I really love that I don't have to try super hard to do well at school, even now in college. I understand things really quickly.

- I love my taste in music. It seems really obvious, but I just think I have the most perfect music taste ever. 

-I love that I'm different. I don't want to be like everyone else.

- I love that I've made the decision not to drink, because if I wasn't so resolute in my decision, there have been way too many opportunities to be pulled into that.

- I love my eyes. They're brown, but they're a goldeny brown and I have a freckle in my right eye. So far, I've only met one other person who has a freckle in their eye, and she happens to have the same color eyes as me, and have it in the exact same place. And she also happens to be my best friend. :)

- I love my birthmark. I've never seen it, because it's on the back of my neck, but it's shaped like a pawprint and it runs in my family.

13) What do you look for in a relationship?

I think at this point, I have a bit of a better idea what I want. My last relationship was a year and a half, but it ended really badly and we never talk now. I've realized that dating someone as stubborn as myself is a bad idea. I also know that I couldn't date anyone controlling because I'm pretty independent and don't like being told what to do. I've also realized in the past few months that my ex didn't really respect me as much as I thought. I would set boundaries and he would break them. He'd apologize and feel bad, but he still broke them, and it happened more often than most accidents. So respect for me and my boundaries is a big one. The same religious beliefs is also a big thing because religion is a big part of my life and relates to most things that I do, so if a guy didn't at least respect (aha that word again) my beliefs behind my actions, it would be a no-go.

On a more lighthearted note, I like funny and sweet guys. And though my celebrity crushes all kinda have a similar punk look (Alex Gaskarth, Dan Howell, Kellin Quinn, etc), in my real everyday life, I don't really have a 'type'. If you look at all the guys I've dated, they have more in common as far as personality than looks.

My favorite book series is Harry Potter. But as far as stand-alone books, I have 3 favorites.

15) Do you want to have kids in the future?

Quite honestly, no. I don't really like kids. I'm sorry, but I don't see how babies are cute. I just don't. Kids are annoying. And they're incredibly painful to give birth to. They're expensive, and I just don't think I want to bring a child that I wouldn't even want into this messed up world. Having said that, if I ended up actually having a child, I would try my best to take care of him/her and be a good mom. But I just don't want to go down that road. 

16) Name three people who inspire you.

Tom Fletcher- he's an amazing musician and I just love him. 

Dan Levitin- He's a rock musician/producer turned cognitive psychologist and I have a lot in common with him as far as what I want to study.

Hunter Hayes- When he was 19, he released a CD. On that CD, he wrote/co-wrote every single song, played every single instrument on every song, did all vocals, and co-produced the CD. And he's been playing instruments and writing music pretty much since he was born. I'm just insanely impressed by his talent.

17) What is your favorite quote?

A single favorite quote? What about a saying? "Que sera, sera" What will be, will be.

18) Life experiences or materialistic things?

Life experiences, of course.

19) Favorite lyric from a song?

This is a very hard question to answer because I listen to way too much music.

I figured that since I'm still in the beginning phases of this blog, I should do an about me challenge. Only seemed fair to allow people to get to know me just a bit.

I'm Kristen. Almost 19. I'm a brunette with red bangs. Brown eyes. Average height. Musician- violist. Dapple in piano, guitar, and ukulele. Just finished my freshman year of college. Music and Psychology major. My friends say I have a grunge look going on. I obsess over McFly, Harry Potter, and guys in bands (I love pop-punk and post-hardcore). Uhhh... yeah.

3) Your day, in great detail:
Monday, May 6, 2013. I woke up around 12:30. Got out of bed and went downstairs to watch TV. I watched a show about 40 celebrity breakups, Cyberchase, and Maury (quality TV, I know). During this, I also cooked a Totino's pepperoni pizza and ate it. I then showered/washed face/ brushed teeth, etc. and my mom and I went to a music store downtown, where I was PLANNING on buying sheet music... but they didn't have it, so I have to wait a week. Then we went to Walmart and McDonalds, then back home. I watched the latest Teens React (TheFineBros on Youtube), Charade (with Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant), and part of the Poirot British TV series from the 90s while unpacking clothes. Ate dinner, more unpacking, and now I'm here.

4) Meaning behind my Tumblr name:
Well, this isn't Tumblr. But I'll explain it anyway. My tumblr is KristenMcFly. My name, and the name of my favorite band. Pretty simple. And my name on here is MusicIsLife. Also very simple.

5) Five places I want to visit:
New York City: I really want to see Broadway shows. SO BADLY.
Harry Potter World: I've been there once but that just doesn't cut it. It's the coolest place ever.
Disney World: I've only been to part of it. There are parts I didn't get to visit and it makes me really sad.
England: I want to see McFly live. REALLY badly. And they never play in the US.
Uh... I really can't think of another. I'm not a big traveller.

6) What Band is most important to you?:
I hold MANY bands really close to my heart. But the most special ones are McFly and All Time Low. I wish I could say how I feel about them without majorly freaking out, but I can't, so I won't.

7) Do you read? What are your favorite books?
Of course I read! The Harry Potter series is always at the top of the list. I also enjoy the Pendragon series and Mortal Instruments series. I love the book And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. It's my favorite book that's not part of a series. 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher is another amazing one. All-American Girl- Meg Cabot. I recently fell in love with This Is Your Brain On Music by Daniel Levitin. It combines psychology and music in a really interesting way and I can totally relate to Dan in many ways.

8) Three things you want to say to different people:
Warning: I have a feeling that this might turn into a rant. I apologize.
My most recent Ex: I hope you realize how many friends you lost. And I hope you realize why. You pulled a really stupid move ending our year and a half long relationship through a message on Facebook. I was too busy to call that night, but you could've waited a day or two to break it off over the phone. I thought you were the one. You were my best friend for four years. You betrayed my trust, and had a new girlfriend two weeks after we broke up. And our guy friends refuse to talk to you now. Was it worth it?
My roommates: I've only been gone a few days, but I miss you two like crazy. I can't wait to get back on campus in the fall and move into our room. I'm so lucky to have met the two of you, and it's really hard to believe that it's been less than a year since we met, because we spend all our time together and have grown so close. I couldn't ask for more amazing best friends. I love you two <3
THAT girl from Jr. High: I hope you had fun making me feel terrible about myself for two years. You (almost) single-handedly ruined my time in Jr. High. And what did you do it for? To make people like you? To try and steal my friends? It was rude and hurtful, both emotionally and physically. I hope for your sake that you have changed, because you can't survive in the real world being a bully.

9) Pet Peeves: 
My biggest pet peeve is bad grammar. Honestly, people, you were taught the difference between there, their and they're in 2nd grade. NO, that is NOT there car. It is also NOT they're car. Apostrophe does NOT always equal possession. I also get annoyed when people will sing a song I know and then get the words wrong. Slow people get on my nerves, whether it's slow-walking people or slow-driving people. I hate when people get a fact wrong and then refuse to admit they're wrong, even when I fact-check them. Yes, I'm one of those people who, in the middle of an argument, will whip out my phone and prove I'm right just to shut you up.

10) 1 food/ beverage for the rest of my life:
The intelligent choice would be water... but I'm going to choose favorites. I could eat chicken tenders with honey mustard for the rest of my life, and I would drink Dr. Pepper.

11) What is your favorite quote?:
I love too many to choose just one. My favorite saying is "Que sera, sera." I love the lyrics to All Time Low's song Weightless.

Hmm... I'm pretty much an open book, so none of these things is going to be a legit confession...
1- I'm from the South, and I'm very proud of that, and even though I currently live in the north, I will say y'all til the day I die. BUT I absolutely cannot stand sweet tea. Or any other tea for that matter. And I was even born on national iced tea day. (feel free to look that up if you wanna creep on me and find out my birthday... or if you wanna see if that's a legit thing)
2- I have 3 huge fears in life: birds, spiders, and clowns. I also get terrified when performing in front of people but that's separate. Birds are literally the scariest thing in the world to me. Especially ostriches. Those things are terrifying.
3- I used to be really athletic. When I was younger, I played basketball, softball, tennis, and volleyball, plus doing horseback riding. Now I sit at home and do nothing.

14) 5 celebrities you fancy.
#5- Joel McHale (Actor- Community, Host of The Soup). He's so funny. He makes me laugh every time I watch anything he's in. I know he's like 20 years older than me, but I don't care. I love him.

#4- Kellin Quinn (lead singer of Sleeping With Sirens). He's adorable and genuinely a good guy. Plus he loves his Pokemon. He can beatbox, and in an interview, he was randomly asked to beatbox the super mario theme and did it... and the underwater theme. Adorable nerd.

#3- Dougie Poynter (bassist in McFly). Dougie's absolutely precious. He's absolutely adorable and I love him. He had so many hard times, and had to struggle with addiction and depression and he came out of it so strong and I just love him.

#2- Alex Gaskarth (singer/guitarist in All Time Low). He's adorable and hilarious and I just can't ever stop laughing when I watch a video with him in it. And he's such a sweetheart too.

#1- Tom Fletcher (singer/guitarist/songwriter/pianist of McFly). Let me just say, I've been in love with this man for YEARS. Not just since the wedding speech video (which made me cry. A LOT). I swear, Tom is my perfect man. He's a crazy talented musician (he plays multiple instruments, is an amazing songwriter, and has the voice of an angel. He's better live than on CD), and he's a total nerd. I'm talking like completely obsessed with Harry Potter, Star Wars, Disney (he has a huge collection of Disney plushies), and plays WoW. Like THAT nerdy. And he's adorable.

OK, I'm not posting a picture of someone I know personally. Sorry. I WILL however, post a pic of a youtuber I'm currently in love with! Danisnotonfire!!! I love him. And Phil. But I'm more of a Danasaur.

16) If the world were to end tomorrow, what would you do with your last day on earth?

I'm not totally sure... I'd either spend it in total isolation just watching youtube videos and reading or something, or I'd spend it surrounded with friends and family. It depends on my mood that day.

17) What do you want to be when you get older?

Well, unfortunately, I'm in college, so I need to figure this out ASAP. Currently, I'm majoring in Music and Psychology (the Psychology thing is new. I went into college as a music major). I want to do research on music and the mind.

Well... I have a lot. Project Runway, Community, The Office, Top Chef, Duck Dynasty... I have a lot of obsessions. Mostly reality competitions. I don't watch a lot of scripted shows.

I'm not a big concert-goer. I don't enjoy drunken crowds. When I was younger, I saw Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken, Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley, and Jake Owen, and Kenny Chesney. Back in October, I saw The Spill Canvas and got to meet them. It was amazing!

This is gonna be really general.
On: funny, sweetheart, unique, uhhh... I usually pay attention to hair before anything else. I like emo or shaggy hair most. I like tall dudes. Piercings usually make a guy more attractive. And tattoos.
Off: doing drugs, drinking, full of himself, loudmouth... yeah...

Uhhh... FAVORITE YOUTUBERS! All time fave is Smosh. I love Anthony. TheFineBros. Jenna Marbles. Jacksfilms is seriously my soul mate. He studied music theory in college and is a grammar nazi like me. And then I have a ton of British youtubers that I watch: Danisnotonfire, Marcus Butler, PointlessBlog, Jacksgap, Sam Pepper, Caspar Lee, Amazing Phil. I also love swiftkaratechop, Joey Graceffa, and of course, Tom Fletcher.
