End of the Year TBR!

Hey, y'all! So, I've been seeing some people post videos and pictures about the books that they want to read by the end of the year, so I decided to go ahead and do the same since I have a complete list of the books that I want to read before the new year. I'll also do them in the order that I plan on reading them. Let's jump right into it!

The Bone Season

by Samantha Shannon

When I started working on this post, I had just started this book. However, I have now finished it, so it's no longer on my TBR. Sometime in the next few days/ in the next week I plan to get a discussion up for this, so stay tuned because I have a lot of strong feelings about this book and need the next book NOW.

The Bane Chronicles

by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, and Maureen Johnson

This was one of my most anticipated releases of the year, because I love Magnus Bane A LOT. I planned to start this right after finishing The Bone Season, but I'm having a book hangover and I'm not sure how long it'll be until I start it. I just want more of The Bone Season, but there isn't any more yet and I'M DYING OVER HERE. Anyway, I'm really excited about this and this is what I'll be reading next.

I picked these up last month with the intent of reading them before the end of the year. And that's what I intend to do! I plan to start the trilogy after finishing The Bane Chronicles (which shouldn't take too long). This sounds like exactly what I'll love- a sci-fi dystopian. The only thing that would be better is a fantasy dystopian, but that still isn't that far off from this. They're big books, but once I get into the plot and characters, I should just fly through this.

If you've followed my blog for a while, you'll be familiar with the fact that I have not read this trilogy. And yes, I realize how incredibly shocking that is. Especially given my love of dystopians. I was told about the first book and how good it was long before the hype, but brushed it off, because I didn't trust the opinions of the person suggesting it to me because they weren't super booky and I assumed they didn't really know my taste. Then everything got so hyped and I was being hipster and avoiding because it was popular and then it just got to the point where it was ridiculous that I hadn't read it... and now we're here. But that's not the only reason I haven't read them. I also heard that Mockingjay isn't that great. BUT, I saw the first movie for a second time when it was on TV and it reminded me how much I liked the movie the first time and so I decided that I really needed to give it a try. If I'm to believe most people, these really shouldn't take too long to get through. 

The Rook

Lately I've just really been in the mood for adult fantasy, and that's what this is. It's another fantasy dystopian, which is partially what drew me to it. After reading Ready Player One, I had the worst book hangover and wanted to read something exactly like it. But of course, the book is just so unique that it's impossible to find something similar enough. But I went to one of those "What should I read next?" generators, and this was like the first result. And Goodreads also told me to read it. I read the synopsis and knew immediately that I needed to read it. 

The Name of the Wind

by Patrick Rothfuss

Like I've said a few times in the past, I've been really into adult fantasy lately. And I've heard nothing but good things about this book. I thought it was a stand-alone, but apparently it's a series, which is actually even better. The second book is already out, so I may need to read the second one before the end of the year too!

October/November Book Haul [Book Haul #5]

Hey, y'all! So remember how I said I would see you in December? Oops, I lied. Not on purpose, of course, but I just didn't think about the fact that I'd be doing my book haul soon. My bad. This will probably be my last book haul of the year, because there's only one other book I want to read by the end of the year that I don't have. Also, since there are only 9 books in this haul, I'm not going to divide by sections. I'm just going to go book by book.

Also, as a side note, this is possibly the most excited I've ever been about a book haul. And I'm not saying that because I want you to get pumped or to try to get you to read on. I'm genuinely really excited about all of these books. I bought almost all of these with the intent to read them by the end of the year, so they're all ones that I'm really wanting to read. And there are a couple that I've already read.

Gone Girl

by Gillian Flynn

This is one of the books that I've already read. If you'd like to read my thoughts about it, you can click here to see my discussion post.

There was just so much buzz surrounding the movie and I really like mysteries/ psychological thrillers, so I was really interested in reading it. And it was definitely an interesting read.

The Rook

by Daniel O'Malley

After reading Ready Player One, I had a major book hangover. Like, bigtime. I wanted to read something exactly like it. Every time I looked on a website for similar books, this one popped up. I wasn't totally sure since it was more of an adult novel and I usually go for YA (not that I'm afraid of adult-- my brain just defaulted to looking for books that fit my typical genre rather than branching out). However, upon realizing that this was both a fantasy and a dystopian and after reading the very intriguing blurb, I was very interested. And also, because of my interest in a certain book (which pops up later in this haul), I've gotten really interested in adult fantasy.

by Patrick Ness

I've had my eye on these books for a while, and when deciding to get the first book, I just decided to buy the trilogy in matching covers. These covers are really pretty (especially The Knife of Never Letting Go) and I also love the spines.

This trilogy is a science fiction dystopian (oh look, my fave word!) and it just sounds insanely interesting. I know that when I read the first, I'll want to continue immediately. The only concern I have with these is that their binding is really tight. They almost seem like they're British binding and I'm not excited about that because I hate breaking spines, especially really pretty ones like these. I just want them to loosen to that I can actually open them without being scared of cracking the spine.

A Clash of Kings

by George R.R. Martin

I had both the first and the third book in this series, and I want to start it sometime near the beginning of next year, so I decided to go ahead and get the second book. I really like the big, floppy, trade paperback copies, so that's what I went for. I found this used online, so it was pretty inexpensive. So now I can marathon the first three books and hopefully the rest of the series once I buy them!

The Bane Chronicles

by Cassandra Clare

Y'all. This was like my most anticipated book of the year other than City of Heavenly Fire. I absolutely love Magnus Bane. He's possibly my favorite character in the Shadowhunter world. He's just so snarky and sassy  and sarcastic and I love him. The cover is gorgeous, and I could not be more excited about getting to read even more about him. This is my next read after the one I'm reading right now.

The Diviners

by Libba Bray

This is the other book in the haul that I've already read. I discussed it in the same post as my Gone Girl discussion, so you can click here if you want to check out my discussion about The Diviners as well. I won't go into too much detail here, but let's just say that I enjoyed it and am eagerly awaiting the second book in the series (trilogy?). Going into it, I'd heard many really great things, but wasn't certain about how much I'd like it. So I was cautiously optimistic. But I ended up really enjoying it!

The Bone Season

This is actually the book that I'm reading right now. I watched a book haul that Regan (PeruseProject on Youtube) did, and in it, she hauled this book. When she said fantasy and dystopian within the same breath, my interest was peaked. And when she explained what it was about, I immediately went and found a used copy online and ordered it because it just sounded so incredibly interesting. I love both genres and it's set in England, and it's going to be a series, and it just seems to be everything I really like in books. So far, I'm really loving it.

So there you go, that's all for my October/November Book Haul! Like I said at the beginning of the post, this will probably be the last book haul of the year. I have all but one of the books that I want to read by the end of the year, so I shouldn't be buying any more after that one. Maybe.

I'll be back in a few days with my TBR for the rest of the year, which might be outdated by the time I get it up, because I might have finished The Bone Season by then. Either way, I do plan to get that up later this week.

A to Z Book Survey

Hey, y'all! Sorry I've been so absent over the last week. I got so swamped with work for classes and barely had time to sleep, let alone blog. Now that I'm officially on fall break, I have time to blog, and plan to get a few posts out. Including a new chapter of The Secret Lightning Scar. I've been promising it and promising it, and I'm finally going to actually get it out. Hallelujah. I'm also going to do a CDs On My Shelf to make up for the one I missed this week as well as maybe one more book tag. I don't want to overwhelm myself, but I do want to get a lot done in the next few days. 

Anyway, today I'm going to be doing the A to Z Book Survey. I saw some of my favorite Youtubers doing it and thought it looked like a lot of fun, so I decided to do it! 

A - Author you've read the most

The author that I've read most is DJ MacHale! I've read (and loved) all 10 books of his Pendragon series. Cassandra Clare will be tied soon once The Bane Chronicles comes out and I devour it. Right now, she and Agatha Christie are tied for second with 9 books apiece. 

B - Best sequel

There were several that I wanted to choose for this, because there are a lot of really great sequels. However, if I had to choose only one book, I'd have to choose...

I absolutely love the Across The Universe trilogy, and A Million Suns, book 2, is my favorite book in the trilogy. Even though I read these back in March, I already want to re-read all three of them. It's such a good trilogy, y'all. Everyone should read this. 

C - Currently reading

I started Vicious on Monday, but I'm still only 20 pages in. I got so swamped with work this week that I just haven't had time to read, but I really want to finish this over my fall break. Maybe even tomorrow? I just want to read it because it sounds amazing.

D - Drink of choice while reading

Let's be honest here, Dr. Pepper is my drink of choice while LIVING. I honestly don't drink much else other than Dr, Pepper. It's an addiction.

E - E-reader or physical books?

I have a kindle, and obviously I do have a lot of physical books. E-readers definitely do have their pluses. The biggest one is convenience. If I'm going on a trip, it's so much easier to take my kindle with me than to take several books. However... I still prefer physical books. I love my book collection. They come in so many shapes and sizes. They have beautiful covers. I just really, really love physical books. I want to have an entire library in my house one day. Or just a wall of books. I like physical books.

F - Fictional character you probably would have dated in 

high school

I actually have two answers for this...

Even though all my celebrity crushes in high school (and now!) were tattooed rockers, all of the guys I ended up liking and dating in high school were dorky and funny, which is actually still my type. And both of these guys definitely fit it sweet/dorky/funny bill. I'd still date either in a heartbeat. They're precious. 

G - Glad you gave this book a chance

Like most people, I tended to not actually do the readings for my English class. I used Sparknotes A LOT. However, I thought that this book sounded interesting, so I decided to actually read it. And I'm so glad that I did, because now it's one of my favorite classics, as well as just one of my favorite novels of all time. It's so great. 

H - Hidden gem book

I know that I harp on this all the time, but almost no one on booktube has read this series or talks about this series, but I absolutely, completely LOVE it. Like... it's probably my second favorite series. I go back and forth with this and the Shadowhunter Chronicles. I started reading it all the way back in 7th grade, and have loved it ever since. It's just so great.

I - Important moment in your reading life

I would definitely say that a very important moment in my reading life was when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was released. The Harry Potter series has been my favorite series since the first time I read it, and the release of the final book was such an important moment in my life in general. That book just holds a very special place in my heart, as does the day that it was released, because I read it all day long. 

J - Just finished

I finished it a week ago, so it isn't exactly "just finished," but it is the most recent one that I finished and I loved it. I can't wait to read the next one when it's released. So excited!

K - Kinds of books you won't read

I tend to think of myself as a pretty broad reader. Even though Fantasy and Dystopian are my true loves, I also really enjoy contemporary, horror, mystery, science fiction, and much more. I also really love non-fiction books dealing with music and psychology. I think that if I had to choose, I'd say that I wouldn't read non-fiction books dealing with topics outside of music, psychology, or writing craft. I have no interest in business books, cookbooks, sports books, etc. I just don't want to read any of those and don't think I ever will. When discussing fiction novels, I think the only type I'm not interested in is historical fiction that is strictly historical fiction. For example, I absolutely loved The Diviners (as seen in the question above) and that book is set in the 1920s. I also really love the Infernal Devices trilogy, which takes place in Victorian England. However, both of these novels have fantasy and paranormal elements, which is what makes me love them. I don't think I would be interested in reading a historical fiction novel with no fantasy elements at all.

L - Longest book you've read

It actually makes me really sad to say that this is the longest book I've read, because I feel like this is almost everyone's longest read book. I personally absolutely love big books. For me, the ideal length of a book is somewhere around 500-600 pages... and maybe even bigger. I just love big books! And it makes me sad that I haven't read a book that's longer than this. Next year, I want to challenge myself to read large books. I'm thinking that I'm going to try to read 5 books next year that are over 800 pages. And I think I already know what books those will be. I may even read more depending on how much I love the ones that I plan to read.

M - Major book hangover because of...

When I finished this book, I immediately wanted to read something else exactly like it, but it's such a unique book that there isn't anything just like it. I started another book not long afterward, but I was thinking about this book for so long afterward and still want to find something that will be as cool as this was.

N - Number of bookcases you own

Technically, I guess I have three. The first one in my room at home.

Bookshelf at home!

 The second is a five-shelf bookshelf in my room here at college. The third is a small, two-shelf bookshelf that doubles as my nightstand. I'd show pictures, but I plan to do a bookshelf tour soon, so I don't want to spoil anything.

O - One book you have read multiple times

Just one? Uhhhh...

I haven't read it in a while, but I've read this one more than almost any other book ever. A couple books that I've read about the same number of times are Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by JK Rowling, And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. I re-read books a lot so I've read these books a lot.  

P - Preferred place to read

Right here. I don't really read anywhere except my bed. I could read on the couch, but it's just too distracting with everything going on around me. And my bed is just so comfy.

I love that quote so much.

R - Reading regret

This isn't so much a reading regret as it is just a book regret, but I regret selling so many of my childhood books. Sometimes, I sold books because I wanted some spending money, or because I was moving and needed to downsize, or even just to clear out shelf space. But now, I really regret selling so many of those books. Especially the Charlie Bone series, because I had the first 6 books in hardcover, but eventually felt like I was too old for them and sold them. I regret that so much. I want them back now. I want all of the books I sold back.

As far as actual reading regrets, I regret taking such a huge break from reading. When I started college, I just stopped reading. I got busy with classes and friends and just didn't even think about reading. Even before then for a while in high school, I wasn't reading much. And I really regret that. I'm glad I got back into reading regularly.

S - Series you started but need to finish (and all books are 

out in the series)

It took me a while to figure out what series fit this, because I'm generally pretty good about finishing series. However, When I started this series, only the first 3 were out, and then once the 4th and 5th came out, I'd moved on and just hadn't thought about it. So, I never finished the last two. This actually might be the only series that I have/ have read where I haven't finished it and all the books are out. 

T - Three of your all-time favorite books

These three books are my current top 3 stand-alone novels. So there's a bit of a teaser for when I do my next top 15 stand-alones post.

The 27th book on my shelf is Shades of Earth, the 3rd book in the Across The Universe trilogy. I really love this whole trilogy, as I've stated many times. So rather than going on and on, I'll just move along.

Y - Your latest book purchase

I don't have it yet, but this is the most recent book purchase I've made. It should be here next week, so yay! I haven't started the series yet, but I have books 1 and 3, so I figured I should go ahead and get book 2 before starting. 

Z - ZZZ Snatcher: Book that kept you up way too late

There are several books that have kept me up way later than I needed to be up, but this is probably the most recent one. Actually, The Diviners is the most recent one, but I've mentioned that one a few times already. Usually, I stay up really late because I want to know what happens, but this time it was purely because of how much I was enjoying it. I'm probably lucky I didn't wake my roommate up with all of the giggling I was doing.

The Infernal Devices Trilogy Discussion [Summer Reading Challenge]

Hey, y'all! I'm here with another summer reading challenge post! I finished the Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clare, and I've posted discussions about each of the books individually. Here are the links to all three posts:

Now, I'm here to discuss the series as a whole, including my opinions about the entire series, my rankings of the books, rankings of the covers, and some of my favorite things in the series.

Series Summary

The Infernal Devices trilogy begins in 1878 and is centered around our main character, Tessa Gray, an American teenager who has just traveled across the Pacific Ocean to London to live with her brother, Nathaniel. She discovers that she has the unique ability to shapeshift into different people and finds herself becoming more and more entangled in the secret world of demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves, and Shadowhunters (people who are half angel and half human, who protect people by hunting demons). She discovers that a mysterious leader named The Magister plans to use Tessa and her power as the centerpiece to a disastrous plan. And, in the midst of impending danger, Tessa finds her heart torn between two Shadowhunters.

Overall Opinions

I had read the first 4 books of The Mortal Instruments series (Cassandra Clare's other series, set in the same world, in present day) before reading The Infernal Devices, and had already fallen in love with the Shadowhunter world that Clare has created. This Infernal Devices series has only solidified my love of this exciting world. I had been extremely skeptical about its ability to impress me as much as The Mortal Instruments did, but I was happily extremely impressed. The characters at first glance seem like simple carbon copies of other characters Clare has created, but they are so incredibly complex and fascinating. The relationships between the characters are so well developed and beautiful, especially the love triangle. The love triangle is one of the best that I've read, if not the best. The three characters' relationships are all so unique and you know that no matter what happens, and who ends up together, everyone is going to have some sort of heartbreak. 

I fell in love with this trilogy in a way that I never expected. It's so hard for me to give it an actual star rating. A 5 star rating system doesn't seem descriptive enough for this series. Even a 10 star rating system doesn't seem descriptive enough. However, I'm not going to go crazy, so I'll go with a 10 star rating system. I don't want to give it a full 10 stars, just because I feel like I can't call it perfect. However, a 9.5 star rating doesn't seem to be quite good enough. I'm going to give it 9.75 stars out of 10. Excessive decimals? Maybe. But this series merited that rating. 

Ranking The Books

#3: Clockwork Angel

It almost pains me to say that this is my least favorite book of the series, solely because I loved the book so much. However, it just wasn't as good as the other two, simply because it was laying the foundation for the rest of the series. It wasn't quite as exciting as the other two books, and we hadn't yet gotten the development of the characters or the relationships between the characters that we grow to love in the last two books. And we don't get to see a ton of Magnus Bane. 

Favorite moment: Probably when Tessa and Jem first meet. It's too adorable.

Rating: Overall, continuing the 10 star system, I'd give it 9 stars out of 10.

#2: Clockwork Prince

This was a big step up from Clockwork Angel. We learn more about the characters in the series, the love triangle is incredibly believable and well-developed. There are secrets and betrayal that are just so incredible. There are so many more moments of action and excitement and I found it really hard to put down. It was really great.

Favorite moment: Maybe the moment when Magnus kisses Will. It's just too funny. 

Rating: I'd have to give it 9.5 stars out of 10.

#1: Clockwork Princess

I read this book almost in one sitting. If I hadn't been forced to go do some things (because unfortunately, there is such a thing as real life), I would have just sat there and read and read and read. This book was so action-packed. Something exciting was constantly happening. There were no slow points, and I just couldn't tear my eyes away from it. I was expecting Clockwork Princess to be better than Clockwork Prince (because the GoodReads rating avg. for Prince was 4.48, and Princess was 4.58). However, I wasn't expecting it to be that much better. The rating avg. for Angel was 4.29, so I figured that the difference between the quality of Prince and Princess would not be as large as the one between Angel and Prince. But I was wrong. I was astounded at how perfect of an ending it was. As I said in my Clockwork Princess discussion, I thought that it was the perfect combination of heartbreak and happiness. It was beautiful. 

Favorite moment: The epilogue. The epilogue. The epilogue. It was so beautiful.

Rating: It was a clear 10 stars out of 10. I couldn't have asked for anything more.

Ranking The Covers

#3) Clockwork Angel

I've never been the biggest fan of this cover. I don't think it's a very good depiction of Will. The background is really pretty, but the cover is nowhere near as dynamic in person as it is in the above image. I'm sure the hardcover is a bit prettier, but either way, this one is easily my least favorite cover. 

#2) Clockwork Princess

This cover is gorgeous. Tessa looks great, and I love that she has the codex and her clockwork angel. I especially love the bridge in the background because of the meaning behind it in the series. However, I'm not a huge fan of pink or rose gold, and that's kinda the color scheme of the cover. Also, I'm not a big fan of the building in the background. The buildings on the other books look nicer. 

#1) Clockwork Prince

This cover. This cover. This cover. Jem Carstairs. The blue color scheme. It's so incredibly gorgeous. I don't have any complaints about this cover. It's so great. I don't even know what else to say. It's just beautiful. 

Favorites/Least Favorites

Favorite character: It's a toss-up between Jem and Will at this point. They're both really great and dynamic and I love both of them. I also really love Magnus. 

Least favorite character: I'm not going to be obvious and choose a villain. I don't like Jessamine. I honestly don't. I didn't feel bad for her at any point. 

Favorite ship: Tessa and Will. I love Tessa and Jem as well, but I like Tessa and Will more. 

Least favorite ship: *This is a small spoiler, proceed with caution!* I would have to choose Gabriel Lightwood and  Cecily Herondale. It wasn't instalove, but it was pretty close. 

Spoilers!

Favorite moment: In the entire series, the epilogue. The epilogue. 

Least favorite moment: When Will and Jem's parabatai relationship was ended. It was such a painful moment. I think it was beautifully written, and it was one of the sobbing moments. It's such a bittersweet moment for me. It was so well handled, but I hated that it had to happen. My heart went out to Will at that moment.

Clockwork Princess Discussion [Summer Reading Challenge]

Hey, y'all! I'm here with another summer reading challenge post! As with the Clockwork Prince post, I decided not to update as I was reading. Instead, I have favorite quotes at the end of the post, like I did with the Clockwork Prince post. Let's get into the exciting conclusion of this series!

Book Summary

If you haven't read Clockwork Angel and Clockwork Prince, don't read this! I have to spoil the events of Clockwork Angel to talk about what happens in Clockwork Princess! 

The book picks up a couple months after the end of Clockwork Prince. Since showing up at the Institute, Cecily Herondale has begun her training to be a Shadowhunter. Jem and Tessa are preparing to get married, while Will continues to avoid Tessa. In the meantime, Mortmain and his automatons haven't been heard from, but soon, that's going to change. Among all the turmoil and Jem's looming illness, Will is still in love with Tessa. How will it all end?  

Overall Thoughts

WOW. This was a better and more thrilling conclusion to this trilogy than I had expected or even hoped for. Gone were the scattered slow moments of Clockwork Angel and Clockwork Prince. This book was so completely action-packed and exciting. Like with Clockwork Prince, once I got into it, I couldn't put it down. The only difference was that it only took 50 pages before I couldn't put it down.

I was very satisfied with the way that the love triangle was handled. This is probably my favorite love triangle I've read. All three of the characters involved in it are so great and you know that no matter what happens, characters that you love are going to hurt. I thought it was so well-written and heartbreaking, but yet so incredibly satisfying at the same time.

I'm not even sure I can really criticize much about the book! Cassandra Clare crafted a trilogy finale with the perfect mixture of heartbreak and happiness, and I can't say too much except that I completely loved it. Honestly, the best part of the book was the epilogue. I'm just glad that my roommates aren't here, because I cried several times during this book. The epilogue was practically a complete sob-fest. 

So, before I get into the spoilery discussion, I'll give my rating of the book. I typically try to avoid giving books a straight-up 5, but Clockwork Princess deserves it. The 5 star rating was a complete no-brainer. 

Spoilery Discussion!

This book was so beautiful. Dare I say perfect? Maybe. There are so many things that I want to talk about that I just can't because SO MUCH happened! Jessie's death was so sudden and unexpected. And then, Jem's impending death and Tessa's capture immediately after. Will's journey to save Tessa, and his pain when he feels that his parabatai is dead. The shock when we realize that Jem isn't dead, but has become a Silent Brother. The realization of what Tessa really is, and what she can do... It's just so many story lines weaving together, creating a completely action-packed book.

Ok, so William Herondale. I love Will Herondale. I understand all the love now. I get it. I still completely love Jem, and I'm sure I will continue to. At this point, I think I love them equally as characters. I definitely believe that the love triangle reached a beautiful conclusion. And that epilogue though. Tessa and Will got married, just as everyone knew they would, and they had a long and happy marriage. And then we see Jem and Tessa in 2008 when he's found a cure and they can be together. Cassandra crafted the perfect way for Tessa to be able to love both of them and to be with both of them, and it had me in tears.

Also, side note- Magnus Bane. He and Will's relationship is too great, and I absolutely love the part that Magnus plays throughout this series. I'm so glad that I get to see him again soon when I read The Mortal Instruments!

I honestly don't think that Cassandra Clare could've crafted a better conclusion. If I were to complain about one thing, it was that the couples ended up a bit too perfectly. Everyone ended up with someone. And yet, it didn't really bother me, because who doesn't like a happy ending?! This book was all that I could've asked for and more.

Favorite Quotes

Not all of the places marked in the book are below- I picked only my absolute favorites for this post- because as you can see, I have several marks in here. Like with Clockwork Angel & Prince, the blue tabs are Will moments, the purple tabs are Jem moments, and the green tabs are everything else. Per usual, I think most of the green moments are Magnus Bane. Because he's Magnus Bane.

Page 20: [Jem]"Unfortunately, you may have to delay your plans for sororicide a bit longer. Gabriel Lightwood is downstairs, and I have two words for you. Two of your favorite words, at least when you put them together."
"Utter simpleton?" inquired Will. "Worthless upstart?"
Jem grinned. "Demon pox," he said.

Page 135: [Charlotte] "Will, I have already been up all night copying down the relevant parts. Much of it was-"
"Jibberish?" Jem suggested.
"Pornographic?" said Will at the same time.
"Could be both," said Will. "Haven't you ever heard of pornographic gibberish before?"

"She is my priority!" Will shouted. 

Page 422: "Well, I think Henry and Magnus should go first," Gabriel said. "They invented the blasted thing."
Everyone turned on him. "It's like he's replaced Will," said Gideon, eyebrows up.

Page 522: "Mr. Rochester never courted Jane Eyre," Tessa pointed out.
"No, he dressed up as a woman and terrified the poor girl out of her wits. Is that what you want?"
"You would make a very ugly woman."
"I would not. I would be stunning."

Page 539: "Marry me," he said. "Marry me, Tess. Marry me and be Tessa Herondale. Or be Tessa Gray, or be whatever you wish to call yourself, but marry me and stay with me and never leave me, for I cannot bear another day of my life to go by that does not have you in it."

Page 557: But this was not Brother Zachariah. This was Jem. 

Also, the rest of the entire epilogue. It's perfect.
