Quick update!

Hey, y'all!

So, it's been a while since I've just posted a little update, so I decided to go ahead and do that and just let y'all know what's going to be going on with the blog in the upcoming week(s).

First off, no Project Runway. This is why I didn't promise to blog the whole thing. I knew I'd decide not to do it. A couple things caused this to happen. First off, I really needed them to be able to go up the day after the show, while it's still relevant. This means that I write it Thursday night and schedule it for Friday morning. But the links and pictures aren't available until Friday, so that throws a huge wrench into the plan. It means the post has to go up Saturday, where it won't get as much traffic because no one cares by Saturday. Also, I found myself totally not looking  forward to those posts at all. Long story short, they just aren't going to happen.

OK, happier news. This afternoon, a very special CDs On My Shelf post will be going up. Tomorrow, I'll also be posting a very interesting bookish post that I think will be really interesting. As far as the next week goes, I think that I'll be getting the next Secret Lightning Scar chapter up in the first half of the week. In the second half of the week, you'll probably be getting an updated Favorite Youtubers post! I've noticed that both of the posts I've done so far have been really popular so I think I'm going to make it a bi-annual update. This one will be formatted slightly differently than either of the last ones, but I think it'll be slightly better as far as organization goes.

I'm trying to figure out a way to space out my posts, since there's a ton crammed into this last little time before my fall semester of school starts, but I have a feeling that I'll be blogging a lot up until school, and then things will mellow out a bit. I've got way too many ideas and not enough days to get them done.

That was all I really wanted to talk about. Just wanted to give y'all a little heads up about what's going to be happening sometime soon. And partially because I'm ashamed that I can't finish a single season of Project Runway blogs. Maybe next year the fifth time will be the charm? Or maybe I'll just learn not to try anymore. Anyway, thanks for reading!

Bookshelf Tour: Home Edition!

Hey y'all! So, last month I did a bookshelf tour and promised that two more bookshelf tours would follow pretty closely behind it. Well, we have reached the first of those two! Last week, I was able to take a week off of work and go home. Well... not really home, but to where my parents live. They moved after I graduated high school. But anyway, I digress. While I was at "home," I was able to go through my bookshelves and re-organize them and clean out some stuff. So, I took some pictures of the shelves, and it's now time for my Bookshelf Tour: Home Edition!

This time, it'll be in just one single part. I'll go shelf by shelf and give an overview of its organization and then go book by book saying whether or not I've read it/ how many times I've read it.

If you'd like, you can also check out my last bookshelf tour by clicking here for part 1 (overview and organization) or here for part 2 (specifics and read/unread).

So, as you can see, I have everything divided by the six cubes. The top two cubes are double-stacked, as is the bottom right cube. The other three cubes are just single stacked.

So, a quick chat about the stuff on top of my bookshelf. On the far left, you'll see a stack of books. Those are all of my yearbooks, K-12. They're mostly in order, but my freshman yearbook is massive so it can't really fit anywhere but the bottom of the stack.

Beside those, you'll see a collar with a card on top. When I was 6, my family adopted a puppy named Sean, and we had him for 12 years before we had to put him down. The pet hospital sent us a card and so I put it on display with Sean's collar.
Whatta cutie!
Beside that, you'll see a little person. That is my Dwight K. Schrute bobble-head ornament. He says various things. I can't remember all of them, but I know one is from the season 3 ep. when he's job hunting and naming words that describe him. In case I haven't mentioned this, I'm a huge fan of The Office. I've seen every single episode, most of them multiple times.

Lastly, we have the piggy bank. That's from my graduation party. My friends got that for people to put my graduation gifts in, and I decided to keep it because it was pretty cute.

OK, on to the shelves!

This shelf is divided into 3 sections. The first and most obvious one is my Harry Potter paperback collection. These are the first copies of the books that I own, and as you can see, they have been well-loved and read many times over. The second section consists of my Harry Potter accompanying literature. This is mostly comprised of analyses of the series. Finally, I have some list books.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone- Read (5ish times)
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets- Read (5ish times)
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban- Read (5-7 times)

Vs.: A Journal of Choices- unfinished
Music Journal (by Moleskine)- unfinished
Music Listography- unfinished
My Listography- unfinished

On the next shelf over, we have some of my favorite series. If you have seen my first bookshelf tour, you'll know that the other two books in the Mortal Instruments series are at school with me, and that I have the entire Pendragon series at school with me in hardcover.

City of Glass by Cassandra Clare- Read (twice)
City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare- Read (twice)

The Rivers of Zadaa by DJ MacHale- Read (twice)

Moving down to the next row, we have my shelf that I have labelled the "paranormal romance" shelf. Although I'm not quite sure if The Host is a romance but since it's Stephanie Meyer, I'll just assume it is.

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer- Read (5ish times)

Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer- Read (2-4 times)
Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer- Read (5ish times)
The Host by Stephanie Meyer- unread

Beside the paranormal romance shelf, we have my shelf of assorted YA books and nostalgia books... AKA books from my childhood.

Midnight For Charlie Bone by Jenny Nimmo- Read (2/3 times)
Banner in the Sky by James Ramsey Ullman- Read (2/3 times)
Call it Courage by Armstrong Sperry- Read

We're now on the last row, which as you can probably tell, is where I keep my Agatha Christie collection. All of these books, except the two on top, are from her Poirot series, the only series of hers that I've read from so far. And of course, I've read And Then There Were None, but I won't go into another discussion about that beautiful novel. And I have a duplicate copy of one of these because no one warned me about title changes, and I thought they were different books. Also, I thought these were in order, but I have discovered a couple are out of order and it's bothering me greatly. I'm honestly tempted to call my mom and ask her to fix it. But I won't, because it's currently 1 AM.

Murder on the Links- Read
Lord Edgware Dies- unread
The Big Four- Read
Murder on the Orient Express- Read (twice)
Three Act Tragedy- Read
The ABC Murders- Read
Cards on the Table- Read
Appointment With Death- unread
Murder After Hours- unread
Mrs. McGinty's Dead- unread
After The Funeral- Read
Funerals are Fatal- Read (this is a duplicate of the book above)
Hickory Dickory Death- unread
Cat Among the Pigeons- unread
Third Girl- unread
Elephants Can Remember- unread
Curtain- unread

Death Comes As The End- unread
Crooked House- unread

Finally, the last shelf is the most random. These are mostly non-fiction and adult novels... plus Eragon. The first four are books I used in one of my required freshman classes in college, and I don't even know why I still have them. Either way, I'm not going to discuss them, partially because they're unimportant, and partially because I don't really know what they're called and can't read their spines.

Dictionary of Dreams
Writing for Children & Teenagers- unread
Writing Fiction and Nonfiction- Read- Read
The Birth Order Book by Kevin Leman- unread
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson- unread
Eragon by Christopher Paolini- unread
The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald- Read
A Midsummer Night's Dream by Shakespeare- Read
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card- Read
The Shining by Stephen King- unread

These books are on the same shelf as those in the section above, but these are behind them. These books are the ones I plan on getting rid of in the near future. Rather than go through all of them, I'll just let you know that the only ones I've read are the two on the right (Midnighters Books 1&3). Some of these books are ones that I know I'm probably never going to pick up (Cirque Du Freak, Found, Ten Great Mysteries, Book of Shadows, The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod, Everything's Eventual, and Shutter Island). Then there's All The Pretty Horses, which I was supposed to read for school, but I hated it and only read a little. Finally, the last few books (Maximum Ride and the Midnighters books) are ones that I want in different editions. Because I hate mass-market paperback.

These books all sit on the shelf behind the Harry Potter books. Almost all of these, except the "simple diary" on the right, are quiz books. I'll save you the bore of going through all of them one by one. Just know that I've looked through these and taken the quizzes many, many times.

And finally, the last shelf. These books sit behind the "favorite series" books. As you can see, I have a lot of journals. And this isn't even all of them. Most of these have very little in them. The only one that's actually full is the pink one laying on top of the other books. It's one that I filled up when I was really young, and it's full of little short stories. I'm really glad that my writing has matured since then. It's tragic. Maybe I'll share one of the stories with y'all. I'm not sure if that would be a "so bad it's funny" scenario or a "terrible, cringe-worthy, oh-no-look-away" scenario.

So there you go, those are the books on my bookshelf at home! As promised, I will have a bookshelf tour for my apartment bookshelf coming out... sometime. Probably in September. I've got a lot of stuff in the plans for the rest of the month, so probably not 'til September.

I've also created a Facebook page for my blog, so if you want to check that out and like it, you can click HERE. I'll try to keep that pretty up-to-date with new posts and such.

Thanks for reading this! If you like my posts, don't forget to subscribe/follow, since it lets me know that you're enjoying what I'm doing. See y'all soon!

Summer 2014 Bookshelf Tour Part 2: A Closer Look

Hey, y'all! So, I've seen lots of booktubers do bookshelf tours, but I hadn't thought to do one until just recently. However, you're actually going to be seeing two bookshelf tours in close proximity to each other! I'm currently living in a dorm room on my school's campus, and the only shelving unit I have are two shelves on top of my desk. However, at the beginning of August, I'll be moving into the apartment I'll be living in throughout my junior year of college, and I'll be getting a full, 5 shelf bookshelf. I probably won't do that bookshelf tour until late August, because I'll be traveling for some of August, as well as preparing for the upcoming semester.

The third bookshelf tour will actually be of my bookshelf at home. I'll be going home for a week next month, and since I have several books there, I thought it would be a good idea to do a bookshelf tour for that shelf. I might hold off on that post until September just because you'll be getting this one in two parts now, as well as the updated apartment one next month. Or I might hold off on the apartment one until September. We'll see.

There are 2 parts to my bookshelf tour. In part 1, I did a general overview of my shelves and how they're organized. In part 2, I'll be listing the books I own and whether they're read or unread.

Link to part 1: Summer Bookshelf Tour Part 1

Books that are bolded are books I've read. Books that are unbolded are unread. Books labeled as read in red are books with one or more re-reads.

So, this bookshelf tour will only be up-to-date for less than a month, but I wanted to go ahead and do it so that I have it documented. It's partially for my own benefit as well, to remember how I had everything shelved. So, let's jump in, shall we?

So, just like with the part 1, I'm going to show you each shelf, and then zoom in on specific sections and go into detail about the books. So let's start out with my Favorites shelf!

OK, so that's all for my main bookshelf. Now we'll move over to my overflow shelving... For this last section, I'm going to discuss the books rather than say read/unread.

The two bottom, spiral-bound books are music anthologies that I used in the two music history classes I took this past year of college. The yellow one covers the classical and romantic periods, and the green one is 20th century music. Right above that are two textbooks from my Creativity and Intelligence class in spring semester. Above that is Shakespeare's Othello. Then, two more books for the Creativity and Intelligence class. Above that is a book called "Selections from the Canzoniere and Other Works"... and I have no clue what that is. It was for a required class that I didn't really pay much attention to and have since forgotten everything about... but I got an A in the class, so I don't feel bad at all. Above that are a journal about hating everything and The Lexicon of Stupidity, both Christmas presents from my roommate, who understands me so well. And lastly, I have the Q&A A Day journal, which is a 5 year journal where you answer a question every day.

And now, we come to the last section of my bookshelf!

Far left, I have an extra copy of Pendragon Book 2. I ordered it very inexpensively as a used copy, and it didn't match my set. So it went into the overflow. Then, I have two books I got for free at a used bookstore. Beside that are two quiz books... I'm obsessed with quiz books. Then, my Wreck This Journal!

Far left is a bind-up of two Agatha Christie novels. Beside that is Under The Dome by Stephen King, which was too tall to fit in any of my stacks. Next, List Your Self and 642 Things To Write About- two fun "non-book" books. Then, Ultimate Unofficial Guide to the Mysteries of Harry Potter (Book 5) and Project Runway: The Show That Changed Fashion, which were both just too tall to fit on my shelves.

Finally, I just have my magazines and some notebooks. The majority of the magazines are Alternative Press... these are the tall ones on the left and the shorter ones in the middle (they had a format change last year). The tall ones on the right are RockSound, and then I have another notebook with some music stuff in it.

So, there you go, that's the closer look at my bookshelves. I hope you enjoyed this and are excited about the upcoming ones. I apologize for how book-heavy my posts have been, but I promise that at the end of this reading challenge, the posts will even out! In the meantime, my discussion for Pendragon Book 4 will be out tomorrow! I also plan on getting a Tumblr Challenge post and CDs On My Shelf post out within the week. And I know that I've been talking about getting a Secret Lightning Scar chapter out and haven't delivered, but this time it's for real. I've been trying to work out this chapter for the last couple days (it's a difficult one) but once I get past this one, I know roughly how the next few will go, so I can start getting those out every couple weeks again. So you can expect the next chapter of Secret Lightning Scar by the weekend. That's a promise.

Summer 2014 Bookshelf Tour Part 1: Overview/ Organization

Hey, y'all! So, I've seen lots of booktubers do bookshelf tours, but I hadn't thought to do one until just recently. However, you're actually going to be seeing three bookshelf tours in close proximity to each other!

We'll see.

There will be 2 parts to my bookshelf tour. This one, part 1, is a general overview of my shelves and how they're organized. In part 2, I'll be listing the books I own and whether they're read or unread.

So, this bookshelf tour will only be up-to-date for less than a month, but I wanted to go ahead and do it so that I have it documented. It's partially for my own benefit as well, to remember how I had everything shelved. So, let's jump in, shall we?

So, this is my main shelving and the vast majority of my books. I do have some overflow books, which I'll show near the end of the post, but this is pretty much the entirety of the books I have at school. As you can see, the shelves are very, very, very full. This is why I'm so excited about finally having a full bookshelf in less than a month.

All 3 of these were actually cut from shopping bags. My favorite used bookstore near my campus uses paper bags with these fun sayings on them, and I thought they were really cool, so I cut them out and put them above my bookshelf.

I'm now going to take it one shelf at a time, saying how they're organized.

As you can see from my little hand-written label, this is my Favorites shelf! These are all the books that I really really love. It also frees up my normal shelves a bit, because these would never all fit.

As you can see, my favorites shelf is mostly just divided by Harry Potter and non-Harry Potter. I'm being just a little lenient with my non-HP stack right now, because a couple books couldn't fit on the shelves anymore. But I do really like them nonetheless.

You also might have noticed this jar. This little jar is my TBR jar. I made it last month, but because of my summer reading challenge, I haven't been able to utilize it yet. Basically, I have all of my unread books on slips of paper inside this jar and each month/ whenever I can't figure out what I want to read, I'll pull one out (with series, I only have the first book in here because it wouldn't make sense to read the second book without reading the first). I also have a couple books in here that I want to re-read, but the majority of the books in here are unread.

We now move down to my second shelf. As you can see, these are mostly organized by size, because that's really the only way to fit everything on there. There is, however, a little method to the madness, and the stacks are divided up in certain ways.

This stack on the far left is all YA series. For some of them, I have other books in that series elsewhere on my shelf, and for others, all that are in this stack are all that I have.

The next stack over is made up of mostly stand-alones, all paperback. There's a little spillover from the previous stack, with a series, but the majority of the books in this stack are stand-alones, or the only book I own in its series.

As you can see, this stack is made up of all normal-height hardcover books. I have it organized so that the bottom half is mostly stand-alone novels, and the top half is made up of books in series. In the cases of all 3 of these series, I own other books in that series in paperback, so those are elsewhere on my shelf.

Then finally, we get to my tall books stack. As you can see, the bottom half is made up of tall hardcover books, while the top half is comprised of my tall paperbacks. Any books taller than these wind up in my "oversize" shelving, which actually reminds me of work because we have a large oversize section in the library I work in.

We now move down to my bottom shelf. As you may be able to notice, this shelf is much more organized than the shelf above it. It's still organized by height, but I was able to also organize by series and genre a little bit better as well.

So, the stack on the far left is the entire Pendragon series in hardcover. The tenth book wouldn't fit on the stack, so I just had to put it beside the rest of the books.

Right next to that stack are my high-fantasy series in paperback. As you can see, there are three complete series, as well as another single book thrown on top.

The next stack on this shelf is comprised of classics and music & psychology books. And yes, I'm fully aware that a few books in this stack are not "classics" but I would classify them as modern classics, so they got put into this pile.

This stack is almost entirely made up of the books in A Series of Unfortunate Events. There is, however, one extra book on the top of this stack which is there solely because it's the same size as the books in A Series of Unfortunate Events.

We've now come to my overflow shelving. This stack sits on the windowsill directly behind and to the right of my main bookshelf. Nearly all of these are books for school, except for the three on top.

Directly to the right of that stack, we come to my final section of books, the oversize/overflow section. A few of these are things like quiz books or list books that aren't really books in the normal sense. Then there are the books that were too large to fit on my main shelf. Finally, some of these books are ones that I didn't really want to display. And, as you can also see, this is where I keep my magazines and a few of my notebooks.

So, there you go, that's the overview of my shelves and how they're organized. You can expect the second part of this sometime next week. As I said, that will be a more in-depth view at the books and whether they're read or unread, and perhaps opinions on them. I haven't quite decided yet. I was close to making this a single post, but I know that I typically only enjoy seeing the overview and organization, and knew that it would be incredibly long with everything on here, so that's why I decided to split it up into two.
